    they are terrified;
when you take away their breath,

    Who has resisted^(C) him and come out unscathed?^(D)

¹⁷ “What is mankind that you make so much of them,
    that you give them so much attention,^(A)

²² They will be herded together
    like prisoners^(A) bound in a dungeon;^(B)
they will be shut up in prison
    and be punished^[a] after many days.^(C)
