⁵ Answer me^(A) then, if you can;
    stand up^(B) and argue your case before me.^(C)

³² If you have anything to say, answer me;^(A)
    speak up, for I want to vindicate you.^(B)
33 But if not, then listen to me;^(C)
    be silent,^(D) and I will teach you wisdom.^(E)”

²¹ When you did these things and I kept silent,^(A)
    you thought I was exactly^[a] like you.
But I now arraign^(B) you
    and set my accusations^(C) before you.

¹⁴ But Job has not marshaled his words against me,^(A)
    and I will not answer him with your arguments.

¹²     I gave you my full attention.
But not one of you has proved Job wrong;
    none of you has answered his arguments.^(A)

⁴ I would state my case^(A) before him
    and fill my mouth with arguments.^(B)
5 I would find out what he would answer me,^(C)
    and consider what he would say to me.

¹⁸ Now that I have prepared my case,^(A)
    I know I will be vindicated.^(B)
