Job 32
Good News Translation
The Speeches of Elihu(A)
32 Because Job was convinced of his own innocence, the three men gave up trying to answer him. 2 But a bystander named Elihu could not control his anger any longer, because Job was justifying himself and blaming God. (Elihu was the son of Barakel, a descendant of Buz, and belonged to the clan of Ram.) 3 He was also angry with Job's three friends. They could not find any way to answer Job, and this made it appear that God was in the wrong. 4 Because Elihu was the youngest one there, he had waited until everyone finished speaking. 5 When he saw that the three men could not answer Job, he was angry 6 and began to speak.
Elihu
I am young, and you are old,
so I was afraid to tell you what I think.
7 I told myself that you ought to speak,
that you older men should share your wisdom.
8 But it is the spirit of Almighty God
that comes to us and gives us wisdom.
9 It is not growing old that makes us wise
or helps us to know what is right.
10 So now I want you to listen to me;
let me tell you what I think.
11 I listened patiently while you were speaking
and waited while you searched for wise phrases.
12 I paid close attention and heard you fail;
you have not disproved what Job has said.
13 How can you claim you have discovered wisdom?
God must answer Job, for you have failed.
14 Job was speaking to you, not to me,
but I would never answer the way you did.
15 Words have failed them, Job;
they have no answer for you.
16 Shall I go on waiting when they are silent?
They stand there with nothing more to say.
17 No, I will give my own answer now
and tell you what I think.
18 I can hardly wait to speak.
I can't hold back the words.
19 If I don't get a chance to speak,
I will burst like a wineskin full of new wine.
20 I can't stand it; I have to speak.
21 I will not take sides in this debate;
I am not going to flatter anyone.
22 I don't know how to flatter,
and God would quickly punish me if I did.

Dios Habla Hoy
32 Al ver los tres hombres que Job insistía en que era inocente, dejaron de discutir con él. 2 Entonces un hombre llamado Elihú, hijo de Baraquel el buzita, descendiente de Ram, no pudo contener más su enojo contra Job, al ver que insistía en su inocencia y culpaba a Dios. 3 Pero también se enojó con los tres amigos de Job, porque, al no haber sabido responderle, habían hecho quedar mal a Dios. 4 Como Elihú era el más joven de todos, esperó a que los otros terminaran de hablar con Job; 5 pero al ver que ellos no sabían ya cómo responderle, no se pudo contener 6 y comenzó a hablar.

Elihú
Como yo soy joven y ustedes ancianos,
no me atrevía a expresarles mi opinión.
7 Y pensé: «Que hable la voz de la experiencia;
que muestren los muchos años su sabiduría.»
8 Aunque en realidad todo hombre tiene entendimiento,
pues el Todopoderoso le infundió su espíritu.
9 Los muchos años no hacen sabio a nadie,
ni las barbas traen consigo una recta comprensión.
10 Por eso dije: «Ahora, que me escuchen,
pues yo también tengo algo que decir.»
11 Yo he estado atento y he escuchado
los argumentos presentados por ustedes.
Les he visto buscar las mejores palabras,
12 y he visto también que ninguno de ustedes
ha podido darle a Job la debida respuesta.
13 Pues para que no se crean ustedes tan sabios,
Dios, y no un hombre, le responderá.
14 Pero, ni Job se ha dirigido a mí,
ni yo voy a contestarle como ustedes.
15 Job, estos tres están confundidos
y les faltan palabras para responderte;
16 pero no creas que yo voy a callar porque ellos callan,
porque se quedan sin responderte.
17 Voy a tomar parte en el asunto
y diré lo que tengo que decir.
18 Estoy tan lleno de palabras
que ya no puedo contenerme;
19 estoy a punto de estallar,
como el vino encerrado en cueros nuevos.
20 Tengo que hablar para desahogarme,
tengo que darte una respuesta.
21 No voy a halagar a nadie;
trataré a todos por igual.
22 En realidad, yo no acostumbro hacer halagos;
¡el Creador me castigaría en seguida si los hiciera!
