²⁶ For consider your calling, brothers: ^(A)not many of you were wise according to worldly standards,^[a] not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. ²⁷ But ^(B)God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; ^(C)God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong;

Come to Me, and I Will Give You Rest

^25 (A)At that time Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, ^(B)Lord of heaven and earth, that ^(C)you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and ^(D)revealed them to little children;

¹³ Better was ^(A)a poor and wise youth than an old and foolish king who no longer knew how ^(B)to take advice.

⁶ But you ^(A)have dishonored the poor man. Are not the rich the ones who oppress you, and the ones who ^(B)drag you ^(C)into court? ⁷ Are they not the ones who blaspheme the honorable ^(D)name by which you were called?

⁷ But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, ^(A)which God decreed before the ages for our glory. ⁸ None of ^(B)the rulers of this age understood this, for ^(C)if they had, they would not have crucified ^(D)the Lord of glory.
