⁶ So Elihu, the son of Barachel the Buzite, answered and said:

Treatment of Church Members

5 Do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father, younger men as brothers,

Submit to God, Resist the Devil

⁵ Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, ^(A)all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for

⁶ Likewise, exhort the young men to be sober-minded,

^7 (A)Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.

²⁸ Now Eliab his oldest brother heard when he spoke to the men; and Eliab’s ^(A)anger was aroused against David, and he said, “Why did you come down here? And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride and the insolence of your heart, for you have come down to see the battle.”

²⁹ And David said, “What have I done now? ^(B)Is^[a] there not a cause?” ³⁰ Then he turned from him toward another and ^(C)said the same thing; and these people answered him as the first ones did.

^32 (A)‘You shall ^[a]rise before the gray headed and honor the presence of an old man, and ^(B)fear your God: I am the Lord.
