^9 (A)not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary ^(B)blessing, knowing that you were called to this, ^(C)that you may inherit a blessing.

^14 (A)Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.

^23 (B)who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but ^(C)committed Himself to Him who judges righteously;

Love Your Enemies^(A)

⁴³ “You have heard that it was said, ^(B)‘You shall love your neighbor ^(C)and hate your enemy.’ ^44 [a]But I say to you, ^(D)love your enemies, bless those who curse you, ^(E)do good to those who hate you, and pray ^(F)for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,

²² But I say to you that ^(A)whoever is angry with his brother ^[a]without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ^(B)‘Raca!’^[b] shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ^[c]‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of ^[d]hell fire.

⁹ With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made ^(A)in the ^[a]similitude of God. ¹⁰ Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

⁶ And ^(A)the tongue is a fire, a world of ^[a]iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it ^(B)defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of ^[b]nature; and it is set on fire by ^[c]hell.

³⁶ But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.
