Job 3:5-7
New International Reader's Version
5 May gloom and total darkness take it back.
May a cloud settle over it.
May blackness cover it up.
6 May deep darkness take over the night I was born.
May it not be included among the days of the year.
May it never appear in any of the months.
7 May no children ever have been born on that night.
May no shout of joy be heard in it.
Job 3:5-7
New International Version
5 May gloom and utter darkness(A) claim it once more;
may a cloud settle over it;
may blackness overwhelm it.
6 That night—may thick darkness(B) seize it;
may it not be included among the days of the year
nor be entered in any of the months.
7 May that night be barren;
may no shout of joy(C) be heard in it.
Job 3:5-7
New King James Version
5 May darkness and (A)the shadow of death claim it;
May a cloud settle on it;
May the blackness of the day terrify it.
6 As for that night, may darkness seize it;
May it not [a]rejoice among the days of the year,
May it not come into the number of the months.
7 Oh, may that night be barren!
May no joyful shout come into it!
