That my days should be consumed with shame?

I would not live forever.

For ^(C)my days are but ^[b]a breath.

^6 (A)Give strong drink to him who is perishing,
And wine to those who are bitter of heart.

^30 (A)To bring back his soul from the Pit,
That he may be enlightened with the light of life.

⁹ That it would please God to crush me,
That He would loose His hand and ^(A)cut me off!

¹⁶ Or why was I not hidden ^(A)like a stillborn child,
Like infants who never saw light?

²⁸ He will ^(A)redeem ^[a]his soul from going down to the Pit,
And his life shall see the light.
