Quejas y autodefensa de Job: el pasado
29 Job continuó así su discurso:
2 ¡Si pudiera revivir el pasado,
cuando Dios se ocupaba de mí,
3 cuando su lámpara
brillaba sobre mi cabeza
y su luz iluminaba mis tinieblas!
4 ¡Aquellos días de mi otoño,
cuando Dios era un íntimo en mi tienda,
5 cuando sentía al Todopoderoso conmigo
y todos mis hijos me rodeaban!
6 Cuando lavaba mis pies en leche
y la roca me daba arroyos de aceite.
7 Cuando iba a la puerta de la ciudad
y, al tomar asiento en la plaza,
8 los jóvenes se escondían al verme,
los ancianos se ponían de pie;
9 la gente principal callaba,
tapándose la boca con la mano;
10 enmudecía la voz de los notables,
se les pegaba la lengua al paladar.
11 La gente que me oía me felicitaba,
quien lo veía se ponía de mi parte;
12 yo libraba al pobre suplicante,
al huérfano carente de ayuda;
13 recibía la gratitud del moribundo,
devolvía la alegría a las viudas.
14 La justicia me cubría como un vestido,
me arropaba lo mismo que un manto,
y el derecho me servía de turbante.
15 Yo era ojos para el ciego,
era pies para los cojos;
16 era padre de los pobres,
abogado de extranjeros.
17 Rompía los colmillos del malvado
y arrancaba la pieza de sus dientes.
18 Pensaba: “Moriré en mi nido,
prolongaré mi vida como el Fénix,
19 con mis raíces a la orilla del agua
y el rocío de la noche en mi ramaje;
20 mi prestigio irá en aumento
y mi arco se reafirmará en mi mano”.
21 La gente me escuchaba expectante,
en silencio, esperando mi consejo;
22 nada añadían cuando yo terminaba,
recibían mis palabras como rocío;
23 me esperaban como a lluvia temprana,
boquiabiertos al agua de primavera.
24 Les sonreía y no daban crédito,
los animaba la luz de mi rostro.
25 Les mostraba el camino y los guiaba,
lo mismo que un rey ante sus tropas;
los guiaba y se dejaban conducir.

回忆昔日的幸福
29 约伯接着说：
2 “但愿我回到从前的岁月，
回到上帝看顾我的日子。
3 那时，祂的灯在我头上照耀，
祂的光伴我走过黑暗。
4 那时，我身强力壮，
上帝是我家的密友；
5 全能者尚与我同在，
儿女围绕在我身旁；
6 我用奶油洗脚，
磐石为我涌出橄榄油。
7 “那时，我去城门口，
到广场就坐，
8 青年看见我便回避，
老人也起身肃立；
9 王侯都停止讲话，
用手掩口；
10 权贵都静默无声，
舌头紧贴上膛。
11 听见我的都祝福我，
看见我的都称赞我。
12 因为我拯救求助的穷人，
解救无人援助的孤儿。
13 临终的人为我祝福，
我使寡妇心里欢唱。
14 我以公义为衣穿在身上，
公正是我的外袍和帽子。
15 我做瞎子的眼、
瘸子的脚；
16 我做穷人的父，
为陌生人申冤。
17 我打落恶人的毒牙，
从他们口中救出受害者。
18 “我想，‘我必在家中安然离世，
我的年日必多如尘沙。
19 我的根伸展到水边，
枝子整夜沐浴甘露。
20 我的尊荣永不褪色。
手中的弓常新不败。’
21 “人们期待聆听我的话，
默然等候我的教导。
22 我讲完后，无人再发言；
我的话滋润他们的心田。
23 他们盼我如盼甘霖，
张着口如慕春雨。
24 我的微笑令他们受宠若惊，
他们从不使我脸色不悦。
25 我为他们选择道路，并且做首领，
我就像君王住在军中，
又如伤心之人的安慰者。

King James Version
29 Moreover Job continued his parable, and said,
2 Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me;
3 When his candle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness;
4 As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle;
5 When the Almighty was yet with me, when my children were about me;
6 When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil;
7 When I went out to the gate through the city, when I prepared my seat in the street!
8 The young men saw me, and hid themselves: and the aged arose, and stood up.
9 The princes refrained talking, and laid their hand on their mouth.
10 The nobles held their peace, and their tongue cleaved to the roof of their mouth.
11 When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me:
12 Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him.
13 The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.
14 I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem.
15 I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame.
16 I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out.
17 And I brake the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.
18 Then I said, I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply my days as the sand.
19 My root was spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night upon my branch.
20 My glory was fresh in me, and my bow was renewed in my hand.
21 Unto me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel.
22 After my words they spake not again; and my speech dropped upon them.
23 And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain.
24 If I laughed on them, they believed it not; and the light of my countenance they cast not down.
25 I chose out their way, and sat chief, and dwelt as a king in the army, as one that comforteth the mourners.
