Job describe al impío
27 Entonces Job continuó[a] su discurso y dijo(A):
2 «¡Vive Dios, que ha quitado mi derecho(B),
Y el Todopoderoso[b], que ha amargado mi alma(C)!
3 -»Porque mientras haya vida[c] en mí,
Y el aliento[d] de Dios esté en mis narices(D),
4 Mis labios, ciertamente, no hablarán injusticia,
Ni mi lengua pronunciará mentira(E).
5 -»Lejos esté de mí que les dé la razón a ustedes;
Hasta que muera, no abandonaré mi integridad(F).
6 -»Me aferraré a mi justicia y no la soltaré(G).
Mi corazón no reprocha ninguno de mis días.
7 ¶»Sea como el impío mi enemigo,
Y como el injusto mi adversario[e].
8 -»Porque, ¿cuál es la esperanza del impío(H) cuando es cortado[f],
Cuando Dios reclama su alma(I)?
9 -»¿Oirá Dios su clamor(J),
Cuando venga sobre él la angustia(K)?
10 -»¿Se deleitará en el Todopoderoso?
¿Invocará a Dios en todo tiempo(L)?
11 -»Les instruiré en el poder[g] de Dios;
No ocultaré lo que concierne al Todopoderoso.
12 -»Todos ustedes lo han visto;
¿Por qué, entonces, obran neciamente[h]?
13 ¶»Esta es la porción de parte de Dios para el hombre impío(M),
Y la herencia que los tiranos reciben del Todopoderoso(N).
14 -»Aunque sean muchos sus hijos, están destinados a la espada[i](O),
Y sus vástagos no se saciarán de pan(P).
15 -»Sus sobrevivientes serán sepultados a causa de la plaga,
Y sus viudas[j] no podrán llorar(Q).
16 -»Aunque amontone plata como polvo,
Y prepare vestidos abundantes como el barro;
17 Él los puede preparar, pero el justo los vestirá,
Y el inocente repartirá la plata(R).
18 -»Edifica su casa(S) como tela de araña[k],
O como choza que un guarda construye.
19 -»Rico se acuesta, pero no volverá a serlo[l];
Abre sus ojos, y ya no hay nada(T).
20 -»Lo alcanzan los terrores(U) como una inundación;
De noche(V) lo arrebata un torbellino.
21 -»Se lo lleva el viento del este(W), y desaparece,
Pues como torbellino lo arranca de su lugar(X).
22 -»Sin compasión(Y) se arrojará contra él;
Ciertamente él tratará de huir(Z) de su poder[m].
23 -»Batirán palmas por su ruina[n],
Y desde su propio lugar le silbarán(AA).

Job describe el castigo de los malos
27 Reasumió Job su discurso, y dijo:
2 Vive Dios, que ha quitado mi derecho,
Y el Omnipotente, que amargó el alma mía,
3 Que todo el tiempo que mi alma esté en mí,
Y haya hálito de Dios en mis narices,
4 Mis labios no hablarán iniquidad,
Ni mi lengua pronunciará engaño.
5 Nunca tal acontezca que yo os justifique;
Hasta que muera, no quitaré de mí mi integridad.
6 Mi justicia tengo asida, y no la cederé;
No me reprochará mi corazón en todos mis días.
7 Sea como el impío mi enemigo,
Y como el inicuo mi adversario.
8 Porque ¿cuál es la esperanza del impío, por mucho que hubiere robado,
Cuando Dios le quitare la vida?
9 ¿Oirá Dios su clamor
Cuando la tribulación viniere sobre él?
10 ¿Se deleitará en el Omnipotente?
¿Invocará a Dios en todo tiempo?
11 Yo os enseñaré en cuanto a la mano de Dios;
No esconderé lo que hay para con el Omnipotente.
12 He aquí que todos vosotros lo habéis visto;
¿Por qué, pues, os habéis hecho tan enteramente vanos?
13 Esta es para con Dios la porción del hombre impío,
Y la herencia que los violentos han de recibir del Omnipotente:
14 Si sus hijos fueren multiplicados, serán para la espada;
Y sus pequeños no se saciarán de pan.
15 Los que de él quedaren, en muerte serán sepultados,
Y no los llorarán sus viudas.
16 Aunque amontone plata como polvo,
Y prepare ropa como lodo;
17 La habrá preparado él, mas el justo se vestirá,
Y el inocente repartirá la plata.
18 Edificó su casa como la polilla,
Y como enramada que hizo el guarda.
19 Rico se acuesta, pero por última vez;
Abrirá sus ojos, y nada tendrá.
20 Se apoderarán de él terrores como aguas;
Torbellino lo arrebatará de noche.
21 Le eleva el solano, y se va;
Y tempestad lo arrebatará de su lugar.
22 Dios, pues, descargará sobre él, y no perdonará;
Hará él por huir de su mano.
23 Batirán las manos sobre él,
Y desde su lugar le silbarán.

27 Moreover Job continued his parable, and said,
2 As God liveth, who hath taken away my judgment; and the Almighty, who hath vexed my soul;
3 All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils;
4 My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit.
5 God forbid that I should justify you: till I die I will not remove mine integrity from me.
6 My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: my heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.
7 Let mine enemy be as the wicked, and he that riseth up against me as the unrighteous.
8 For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God taketh away his soul?
9 Will God hear his cry when trouble cometh upon him?
10 Will he delight himself in the Almighty? will he always call upon God?
11 I will teach you by the hand of God: that which is with the Almighty will I not conceal.
12 Behold, all ye yourselves have seen it; why then are ye thus altogether vain?
13 This is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the heritage of oppressors, which they shall receive of the Almighty.
14 If his children be multiplied, it is for the sword: and his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread.
15 Those that remain of him shall be buried in death: and his widows shall not weep.
16 Though he heap up silver as the dust, and prepare raiment as the clay;
17 He may prepare it, but the just shall put it on, and the innocent shall divide the silver.
18 He buildeth his house as a moth, and as a booth that the keeper maketh.
19 The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not be gathered: he openeth his eyes, and he is not.
20 Terrors take hold on him as waters, a tempest stealeth him away in the night.
21 The east wind carrieth him away, and he departeth: and as a storm hurleth him out of his place.
22 For God shall cast upon him, and not spare: he would fain flee out of his hand.
23 Men shall clap their hands at him, and shall hiss him out of his place.

Job Affirms His Righteousness
27 Job again took up his (A)discourse and said,
2 “As God lives, (B)who has taken away my right,
And the Almighty, (C)who has embittered my soul,
3 For as long as [a]life is in me,
And the [b](D)breath of God is in my nostrils,
4 My lips certainly will not speak unjustly,
Nor will (E)my tongue mutter deceit.
5 Far be it from me that I should declare you right;
Until I die, (F)I will not [c]give up my integrity.
6 I have (G)kept hold of my righteousness and will not let it go.
My heart does not rebuke any of my days.
The State of the Godless
7 “May my enemy be as the wicked,
And [d]my opponent as the criminal.
8 For what is (H)the hope of the godless when he makes an end of life,
When God requires (I)his [e]life?
9 Will God (J)hear his cry
When (K)distress comes upon him?
10 Or will he take (L)pleasure in the Almighty?
Will he call on God at all times?
11 I will instruct you in the [f]power of God;
What is with the Almighty I will not conceal.
12 Behold, all of you have seen it;
Why then do you talk of nothing?
13 “This is (M)the portion of a wicked person from God,
And the inheritance which (N)tyrants receive from the Almighty:
14 Though his sons are many, [g]they are destined (O)for the sword;
And his (P)descendants will not be satisfied with bread.
15 His survivors will be buried because of the plague,
And [h]their (Q)widows will not be able to weep.
16 Though he piles up silver like dust,
And prepares garments as plentiful as the clay,
17 He may prepare it, (R)but the righteous will wear it
And the innocent will divide the silver.
18 He has built his (S)house like the [i]spider’s web,
Or a hut which the watchman has made.
19 He lies down rich, but never [j]again;
He opens his eyes, and (T)it no longer exists.
20 (U)Terrors overtake him like a flood;
A storm steals him away (V)in the night.
21 The east (W)wind carries him away, and he is gone;
For it sweeps him (X)away from his place.
22 For it will hurl at him (Y)without mercy;
He will certainly try to (Z)flee from its [k]power.
23 People will [l]clap their hands at him,
And will (AA)whistle at him from their places.
