27 Y volvió Job a tomar su parábola, y dijo:
2 Vive el Dios que me quitó mi derecho, y el Omnipotente, que amargó mi alma,
3 que todo el tiempo que mi alma estuviere en mí, y hubiere hálito de Dios en mis narices,
4 mis labios no hablarán iniquidad, ni mi lengua pronunciará engaño.
5 Nunca tal me acontezca que yo os justifique; hasta morir no quitaré de mí mi integridad.
6 Mi justicia tengo asida, y no la cederé; no me reprochará mi corazón en todos mis días.
7 ¶ Sea como el impío mi enemigo, y como el inicuo mi adversario.
8 Porque ¿cuál es la esperanza del hipócrita, por mucho que hubiere robado, cuando Dios arrebatare su alma?
9 ¿Por ventura oirá Dios su clamor cuando la tribulación viniere sobre él?
10 ¿Por ventura se deleitará en el Omnipotente? ¿Invocará a Dios en todo tiempo?
11 Yo os enseñaré lo que hay en la mano de Dios; no esconderé lo que hay acerca del Omnipotente.
12 He aquí que todos vosotros lo habéis visto, ¿por qué pues os desvanecéis con vanidad?
13 Esta es para con Dios la suerte del hombre impío, y la herencia que los violentos han de recibir del Omnipotente.
14 Si sus hijos fueren multiplicados, serán para la espada; y sus descendientes no se saciarán de pan.
15 Los que de ellos quedaren, en muerte serán sepultados; y no llorarán sus viudas.
16 Si amontonare plata como polvo, y si preparare ropa como lodo;
17 la habrá preparado él, mas el justo se vestirá, y el inocente repartirá la plata.
18 Edificó su casa como la polilla, y como cabaña que el guarda hizo.
19 El rico dormirá, mas no será recogido; abrirá sus ojos, y no verá a nadie.
20 Asirán de él terrores como aguas; torbellino lo arrebatará de noche.
21 Lo tomará el solano, y partirá; la tempestad lo arrebatará del lugar suyo.
22 Dios, pues, descargará sobre él, y no perdonará. Hará él por huir de su mano.
23 Batirán sus manos sobre él, y desde su lugar le silbarán.

Octava respuesta de Job
27 Job volvió a tomar la palabra y dijo:
2 «Dios me tiene amargado
y no quiere hacerme justicia,
pero juro en su nombre
3 que mientras yo tenga vida
4 jamás diré otra cosa
que no sea la verdad.
5-6 Mientras tenga yo vida,
insistiré en mi inocencia
y jamás les daré la razón.
¡No tengo de qué avergonzarme!
7 »¡Dios quiera que mis enemigos
tengan la muerte que merecen
los injustos y malvados!
8 No hay esperanza para el malvado
si Dios le quita la vida.
9 Cuando los domina la angustia,
Dios no escucha sus ruegos,
10 pues el malvado no ama a Dios
y jamás le pide ayuda.
11 »Voy a mostrarles el poder de Dios
y no ocultaré sus planes,
12 pero si ya los conocen,
¿por qué dicen tantas tonterías?»

13 Zofar respondió:
«Dios espera el momento
de castigar a los malvados;
y éste será su castigo:
14 Aunque tengan muchos hijos,
unos morirán de hambre
y otros, en la guerra.
15 Si algunos quedan con vida,
morirán de alguna enfermedad
y sus viudas no llorarán por ellos.
16 Aunque lleguen a amontonar
mucha plata y vestidos,
17 la gente buena e inocente
disfrutará de todo eso.
18 »¡Resiste más una telaraña,
o una choza de paja,
que las casas de los malvados!
19 Por la noche, se acuestan ricos;
por la mañana, amanecen pobres;
20 ¡una lluvia de cosas terribles
cae sobre ellos por la noche!
21-22 Del oriente sopla un fuerte viento,
y sin compasión los arrebata;
quisieran librarse de su poder,
pero el viento se los lleva
y desaparecen para siempre.
23 Así terminan los malvados,
entre burlas y silbidos».

27 Moreover Job continued his parable, and said,
2 As God liveth, who hath taken away my judgment; and the Almighty, who hath vexed my soul;
3 All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils;
4 My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit.
5 God forbid that I should justify you: till I die I will not remove mine integrity from me.
6 My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: my heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.
7 Let mine enemy be as the wicked, and he that riseth up against me as the unrighteous.
8 For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God taketh away his soul?
9 Will God hear his cry when trouble cometh upon him?
10 Will he delight himself in the Almighty? will he always call upon God?
11 I will teach you by the hand of God: that which is with the Almighty will I not conceal.
12 Behold, all ye yourselves have seen it; why then are ye thus altogether vain?
13 This is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the heritage of oppressors, which they shall receive of the Almighty.
14 If his children be multiplied, it is for the sword: and his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread.
15 Those that remain of him shall be buried in death: and his widows shall not weep.
16 Though he heap up silver as the dust, and prepare raiment as the clay;
17 He may prepare it, but the just shall put it on, and the innocent shall divide the silver.
18 He buildeth his house as a moth, and as a booth that the keeper maketh.
19 The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not be gathered: he openeth his eyes, and he is not.
20 Terrors take hold on him as waters, a tempest stealeth him away in the night.
21 The east wind carrieth him away, and he departeth: and as a storm hurleth him out of his place.
22 For God shall cast upon him, and not spare: he would fain flee out of his hand.
23 Men shall clap their hands at him, and shall hiss him out of his place.

Job’s Final Word to His Friends
27 And Job continued his discourse:(A)
2 “As surely as God lives, who has denied me justice,(B)
the Almighty,(C) who has made my life bitter,(D)
3 as long as I have life within me,
the breath of God(E) in my nostrils,
4 my lips will not say anything wicked,
and my tongue will not utter lies.(F)
5 I will never admit you are in the right;
till I die, I will not deny my integrity.(G)
6 I will maintain my innocence(H) and never let go of it;
my conscience(I) will not reproach me as long as I live.(J)
7 “May my enemy be like the wicked,(K)
my adversary(L) like the unjust!
8 For what hope have the godless(M) when they are cut off,
when God takes away their life?(N)
9 Does God listen to their cry
when distress comes upon them?(O)
10 Will they find delight in the Almighty?(P)
Will they call on God at all times?
11 “I will teach you about the power of God;
the ways(Q) of the Almighty I will not conceal.(R)
12 You have all seen this yourselves.
Why then this meaningless talk?
13 “Here is the fate God allots to the wicked,
the heritage a ruthless man receives from the Almighty:(S)
14 However many his children,(T) their fate is the sword;(U)
his offspring will never have enough to eat.(V)
15 The plague will bury those who survive him,
and their widows will not weep for them.(W)
16 Though he heaps up silver like dust(X)
and clothes like piles of clay,(Y)
17 what he lays up(Z) the righteous will wear,(AA)
and the innocent will divide his silver.(AB)
18 The house(AC) he builds is like a moth’s cocoon,(AD)
like a hut(AE) made by a watchman.
19 He lies down wealthy, but will do so no more;(AF)
when he opens his eyes, all is gone.(AG)
20 Terrors(AH) overtake him like a flood;(AI)
a tempest snatches him away in the night.(AJ)
21 The east wind(AK) carries him off, and he is gone;(AL)
it sweeps him out of his place.(AM)
22 It hurls itself against him without mercy(AN)
as he flees headlong(AO) from its power.(AP)
23 It claps its hands(AQ) in derision
