⁴ For if God did not spare ^(A)angels when they sinned, but ^(B)cast them into hell^[a] and committed them to chains^[b] of gloomy darkness ^(C)to be kept until the judgment; ⁵ if he did not spare the ancient world, but ^(D)preserved Noah, a herald of righteousness, with seven others, when he brought ^(E)a flood upon the world of the ungodly;

^32 (A)He who did not spare his own Son but ^(B)gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?

The Destruction of Israel

9 I saw the Lord standing beside^[a] the altar, and he said:

^14 (A)I am the Lord. I have spoken; it shall come to pass; I will do it. I will not go back; ^(B)I will not spare; ^(C)I will not relent; ^(D)according to your ways and your deeds you will be judged, declares the Lord God.”

⁵ And to ^(A)the others he said in my hearing, “Pass through the city after him, and strike. ^(B)Your eye shall not spare, and you shall show no pity. ^6 (C)Kill old men outright, young men and maidens, little children and women, but ^(D)touch no one on whom is the mark. And ^(E)begin at my sanctuary.” So they began with the elders who were before the house.

¹¹ Therefore, ^(A)as I live, declares the Lord God, surely, ^(B)because you have defiled my sanctuary ^(C)with all your detestable things and with all your ^(D)abominations, ^(E)therefore I will withdraw.^{[a] (F)}My eye will not spare, and I will have no pity.

¹⁴ And I will ^(A)dash them one against another, fathers and sons together, declares the Lord. I will not pity or spare or have compassion, that I should not destroy them.’”
