Job 26

Job Replies: God's Majesty Is Unsearchable
26 Then Job answered and said:
2 “How you have (A)helped him who has no power!
How you have saved (B)the arm that has no strength!
3 How you have (C)counseled him who has no wisdom,
and plentifully declared sound knowledge!
4 With whose help have you uttered words,
and whose breath (D)has come out from you?
5 The (E)dead tremble
under the waters and their inhabitants.
6 Sheol is (F)naked before God,[a]
and (G)Abaddon has no covering.
7 He (H)stretches out the north over (I)the void
and hangs the earth on nothing.
8 He (J)binds up the waters in his thick clouds,
and the cloud is not split open under them.
9 He covers the face of the full moon[b]
and (K)spreads over it his cloud.
10 He has inscribed (L)a circle on the face of the waters
at the boundary between light and darkness.
11 (M)The pillars of heaven tremble
and are astounded at his (N)rebuke.
12 By his power he (O)stilled the sea;
by his understanding he shattered (P)Rahab.
13 (Q)By his wind the heavens were made fair;
his hand pierced (R)the fleeing serpent.
14 Behold, these are but the outskirts of his (S)ways,
and how small (T)a whisper do we hear of him!
But the thunder of his power who can understand?”
Job 26
1599 Geneva Bible
26 Job showeth that man cannot help God, and proveth it by his miracles.
1 But Job answered, and said,
2 [a]Whom helpest thou? him that hath no power? savest thou the arm that hath no strength?
3 Whom counselest thou? him that hath no wisdom? [b]thou showest right well as the thing is.
4 To whom dost thou declare these words? or whose spirit [c]cometh out of thee?
5 The [d]dead things are formed under the waters, and near unto them.
6 The grave is [e]naked before him, and there is no covering for [f]destruction.
7 He stretcheth out the [g]North over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.
8 He bindeth the waters in his clouds, and the cloud is not broken under them.
9 He holdeth back the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud upon it.
10 He hath set bounds [h]about the waters, until the [i]day and night come to an end.
11 The [j]pillars of heaven tremble and quake at his reproof.
12 The sea is calm by his power, and by his understanding he smiteth the pride thereof.
13 His Spirit hath garnished the heavens, and his hand hath formed the crooked [k]serpent.
14 Lo, these are part of his ways: but [l]how little a portion hear we of him? and who can understand his fearful power?

Bildad parla all'aria
26 Giobbe rispose:
2 Quanto aiuto hai dato al debole
e come hai soccorso il braccio senza forza!
3 Quanti buoni consigli hai dato all'ignorante
e con quanta abbondanza hai manifestato la saggezza!
4 A chi hai tu rivolto la parola
e qual è lo spirito che da te è uscito?
5 I morti tremano sotto terra,
14 Ecco, questi non sono che i margini delle sue opere;
quanto lieve è il sussurro che noi ne percepiamo!
Ma il tuono della sua potenza chi può comprenderlo?
