Bildad Says Man Is Inferior
25 Then Bildad the Shuhite [a]answered,
2 “(A)Dominion and awe [b]belong to Him
Who establishes peace in (B)His heights.
3 “Is there any number to (C)His troops?
And upon whom does His light not rise?
4 “How then can a man be (D)just with God?
Or how can he be (E)clean who is born of woman?
5 “If even (F)the moon has no brightness
And the (G)stars are not pure in His sight,
6 How much less (H)man, that (I)maggot,
And the son of man, that worm!”
Job Rebukes Bildad
26 Then Job [c]responded,
2 “What a help you are to [d](J)the weak!
How you have saved the arm (K)without strength!
3 “What counsel you have given to one without wisdom!
What helpful insight you have abundantly [e]provided!
4 “To whom have you uttered words?
And whose [f]spirit was expressed through you?
The Greatness of God
5 “The [g](L)departed spirits tremble
Under the waters and their inhabitants.
6 “Naked is [h](M)Sheol before Him,
And [i](N)Abaddon has no covering.
7 “He (O)stretches out the north over empty space
And hangs the earth on nothing.
8 “He (P)wraps up the waters in His clouds,
And the cloud does not burst under them.
9 “He [j](Q)obscures the face of the [k]full moon
And spreads His cloud over it.
10 “He has inscribed a (R)circle on the surface of the waters
At the (S)boundary of light and darkness.
11 “The pillars of heaven tremble
And are amazed at His rebuke.
12 “He (T)quieted the sea with His power,
And by His (U)understanding He shattered (V)Rahab.
13 “By His breath the (W)heavens are [l]cleared;
His hand has pierced (X)the fleeing serpent.
14 “Behold, these are the fringes of His ways;
And how faint (Y)a word we hear of Him!
But His mighty (Z)thunder, who can understand?”

The Beatitudes
20 And turning His gaze toward His disciples, He began to say, “(A)Blessed are [a]you who are poor, for (B)yours is the kingdom of God. 21 Blessed are [b]you who hunger now, for you shall be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh. 22 (C)Blessed are you when men hate you, and (D)ostracize you, and insult you, and scorn your name as evil, for the sake of the Son of Man. 23 Be glad in that day and (E)leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven. For (F)in the same way their fathers used to [c]treat the prophets. 24 But woe to (G)you who are rich, for (H)you are receiving your comfort in full. 25 Woe to you who [d]are well-fed now, for you shall be hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep. 26 Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for their fathers used to [e]treat the (I)false prophets in the same way.
27 “But I say to you who hear, (J)love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, (K)pray for those who [f]mistreat you. 29 (L)Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him the other also; and whoever takes away your [g]coat, do not withhold your [h]shirt from him either. 30 Give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back. 31 [i](M)Treat others the same way you want [j]them to treat you. 32 (N)If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. 33 If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. 34 (O)If you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners in order to receive back the same amount. 35 But (P)love your enemies, and do good, and lend, [k]expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be (Q)sons of (R)the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men. 36 [l]Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
37 “(S)Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; [m](T)pardon, and you will be pardoned. 38 Give, and it will be given to you. They will [n]pour (U)into your lap a (V)good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.”
