24 “Why does the Almighty not set times(A) for judgment?(B)
Why must those who know him look in vain for such days?(C)
2 There are those who move boundary stones;(D)
they pasture flocks they have stolen.(E)
3 They drive away the orphan’s donkey
and take the widow’s ox in pledge.(F)
4 They thrust the needy(G) from the path
and force all the poor(H) of the land into hiding.(I)
5 Like wild donkeys(J) in the desert,
the poor go about their labor(K) of foraging food;
the wasteland(L) provides food for their children.
6 They gather fodder(M) in the fields
and glean in the vineyards(N) of the wicked.(O)
7 Lacking clothes, they spend the night naked;
they have nothing to cover themselves in the cold.(P)
8 They are drenched(Q) by mountain rains
and hug(R) the rocks for lack of shelter.(S)
9 The fatherless(T) child is snatched(U) from the breast;
the infant of the poor is seized(V) for a debt.(W)
10 Lacking clothes, they go about naked;(X)
they carry the sheaves,(Y) but still go hungry.
11 They crush olives among the terraces[a];
they tread the winepresses,(Z) yet suffer thirst.(AA)
12 The groans of the dying rise from the city,
and the souls of the wounded cry out for help.(AB)
But God charges no one with wrongdoing.(AC)
13 “There are those who rebel against the light,(AD)
who do not know its ways
or stay in its paths.(AE)
14 When daylight is gone, the murderer rises up,
kills(AF) the poor and needy,(AG)
and in the night steals forth like a thief.(AH)
15 The eye of the adulterer(AI) watches for dusk;(AJ)
he thinks, ‘No eye will see me,’(AK)
and he keeps his face concealed.
16 In the dark, thieves break into houses,(AL)
but by day they shut themselves in;
they want nothing to do with the light.(AM)
17 For all of them, midnight is their morning;
they make friends with the terrors(AN) of darkness.(AO)
18 “Yet they are foam(AP) on the surface of the water;(AQ)
their portion of the land is cursed,(AR)
so that no one goes to the vineyards.(AS)
19 As heat and drought snatch away the melted snow,(AT)
so the grave(AU) snatches away those who have sinned.
20 The womb forgets them,
the worm(AV) feasts on them;(AW)
the wicked are no longer remembered(AX)
but are broken like a tree.(AY)
21 They prey on the barren and childless woman,
and to the widow they show no kindness.(AZ)
22 But God drags away the mighty by his power;(BA)
though they become established,(BB) they have no assurance of life.(BC)
23 He may let them rest in a feeling of security,(BD)
but his eyes(BE) are on their ways.(BF)
24 For a little while they are exalted, and then they are gone;(BG)
they are brought low and gathered up like all others;(BH)
they are cut off like heads of grain.(BI)
25 “If this is not so, who can prove me false
and reduce my words to nothing?”(BJ)

2 Kẻ ác chiếm đoạt đất đai người khác;
chúng đánh cắp các bầy gia súc,
rồi mang đến đồng cỏ khác.
3 Chúng đuổi lừa của kẻ mồ côi,
và cướp đoạt bò của goá phụ không tiền.
4 Chúng xô kẻ khốn khó ra khỏi lối đi;
kẻ nghèo khổ trong xứ phải trốn tránh chúng.
5 Người nghèo hóa ra như lừa hoang trong sa mạc,
đi lang thang tìm thức ăn.
Sa mạc cung cấp thức ăn cho con cái chúng.
6 Chúng lượm cỏ khô và rơm rạ trong đồng,
mót những trái nho còn sót trong vườn nho của kẻ ác [a].
7 Chúng phải ngủ trần truồng vì không có quần áo,

họ vác bao gạo cho kẻ khác mà mình lại đói;
11 Họ ép trái ô-liu để lấy dầu,
đạp trái nho để lấy rượu,
nhưng vẫn khát nước.
12 Người hấp hối rên rỉ trong thành,
kẻ bị thương kêu xin cứu giúp,
nhưng Thượng Đế không lên án kẻ làm ác.
13 Những kẻ chống nghịch sự sáng không biết đường lối Thượng Đế,
hay đi theo các nẻo Ngài.
14 Đến cuối ngày, kẻ sát nhân đứng dậy giết người nghèo khó khốn cùng.
Ban đêm chúng rình rập như kẻ trộm.
15 Những kẻ ngoại tình trông chờ bóng đêm,
chúng nghĩ, ‘Sẽ không ai thấy chúng ta,’
chúng che mặt lại.
16 Kẻ ác lẻn vào nhà người ta trong bóng tối.
Ban ngày chúng đóng cửa rút vào nhà,
vì chúng không muốn lộ ra ánh sáng.
17 Đối với kẻ ác, bóng tối là ánh sáng cho chúng,
bạn bè của chúng là bóng đêm kinh hoàng.
18 Chúng như bọt nổi trên nước.
Phần đất của chúng bị nguyền rủa;
Không ai đi trên con đường gần vườn nho chúng.
19 Như hơi nóng và khô hạn làm tuyết tan nhanh ra sao,
thì mồ mả cũng cướp lấy tội nhân nhanh như thế.
20 Mẹ chúng quên chúng,

Sẽ không ai nhớ chúng nữa,
còn kẻ ác sẽ gãy vụn như cái que.
21 Kẻ ác hành hạ người đàn bà không con,
không tỏ lòng nhân từ với người góa bụa.
22 Nhưng Thượng Đế dùng quyền năng Ngài lôi kẻ mạnh đi.
Dù chúng mạnh, chúng không biết còn sống bao lâu.
23 Thượng Đế có thể để chúng an thân trong một thời gian,
nhưng Ngài canh chừng lối đi của chúng.
24 Chúng được sung túc trong một thời gian ngắn rồi qua đời;
chúng bị chôn vùi như tất cả mọi người khác;
chúng bị cắt như bông lúa.
25 Nếu không đúng thế thì ai có thể chứng tỏ tôi sai?
Ai có thể bảo lời nói tôi không giá trị gì?”

24 Why, seeing times are not hidden from the Almighty, do they that know him not see his days?
2 Some remove the landmarks; they violently take away flocks, and feed thereof.
3 They drive away the ass of the fatherless, they take the widow's ox for a pledge.
4 They turn the needy out of the way: the poor of the earth hide themselves together.
5 Behold, as wild asses in the desert, go they forth to their work; rising betimes for a prey: the wilderness yieldeth food for them and for their children.
6 They reap every one his corn in the field: and they gather the vintage of the wicked.
7 They cause the naked to lodge without clothing, that they have no covering in the cold.
8 They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for want of a shelter.
9 They pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge of the poor.
10 They cause him to go naked without clothing, and they take away the sheaf from the hungry;
11 Which make oil within their walls, and tread their winepresses, and suffer thirst.
12 Men groan from out of the city, and the soul of the wounded crieth out: yet God layeth not folly to them.
13 They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof.
14 The murderer rising with the light killeth the poor and needy, and in the night is as a thief.
15 The eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saying, No eye shall see me: and disguiseth his face.
16 In the dark they dig through houses, which they had marked for themselves in the daytime: they know not the light.
17 For the morning is to them even as the shadow of death: if one know them, they are in the terrors of the shadow of death.
18 He is swift as the waters; their portion is cursed in the earth: he beholdeth not the way of the vineyards.
19 Drought and heat consume the snow waters: so doth the grave those which have sinned.
20 The womb shall forget him; the worm shall feed sweetly on him; he shall be no more remembered; and wickedness shall be broken as a tree.
21 He evil entreateth the barren that beareth not: and doeth not good to the widow.
22 He draweth also the mighty with his power: he riseth up, and no man is sure of life.
23 Though it be given him to be in safety, whereon he resteth; yet his eyes are upon their ways.
24 They are exalted for a little while, but are gone and brought low; they are taken out of the way as all other, and cut off as the tops of the ears of corn.
25 And if it be not so now, who will make me a liar, and make my speech nothing worth?
