Job 22:6-11
New American Bible (Revised Edition)
6 You keep your relatives’ goods in pledge unjustly,[a]
leave them stripped naked of their clothing.(A)
7 To the thirsty you give no water to drink,
and from the hungry you withhold bread;
8 As if the land belonged to the powerful,
and only the privileged could dwell in it!
9 You sent widows away empty-handed,
and the resources of orphans are destroyed.(B)
10 Therefore snares are round about you,(C)
sudden terror makes you panic,
11 Or darkness—you cannot see!
A deluge of waters covers you.
Job 22:6-11
New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition
6 For you have exacted pledges from your family for no reason,
and stripped the naked of their clothing.
7 You have given no water to the weary to drink,
and you have withheld bread from the hungry.
8 The powerful possess the land,
and the favored live in it.
9 You have sent widows away empty-handed,
and the arms of the orphans you have crushed.[a]
10 Therefore snares are around you,
and sudden terror overwhelms you,
11 or darkness so that you cannot see;
a flood of water covers you.

Job 22:6-11
Common English Bible
6 You have taken payments from your family for no reason;
stripped the naked, leaving no clothes;
7 denied water to the thirsty,
withheld bread from the starving.
(8 The powerful own land;
the favored live in it.)
9 You have sent widows away empty;
crushed orphans’ resources.
10 For this reason, snares surround you;
sudden dread brings panic to you
11 or a darkness that you can’t see;
rushing water will cover you.

8 But the earth (E)belongs to the (F)powerful man,
And (G)the one who is honorable dwells on it.
9 You have sent (H)widows away empty,
And the [b]strength of (I)orphans has been crushed.
10 Therefore (J)traps surround you,
And sudden (K)dread terrifies you,
11 Or (L)darkness, so that you cannot see,
And a (M)flood of water covers you.
