21 Y respondió Job, y dijo:
2 Oíd atentamente mi palabra, y sea esto por vuestros consuelos.
3 Soportadme, y yo hablaré; y después que hubiere hablado, escarneced.
4 ¿Por ventura quejo a algún hombre? Y si es así ¿por qué no se ha de angustiar mi espíritu?
5 Miradme, y espantaos, y poned la mano sobre la boca.
6 Aun yo mismo, cuando me acuerdo, me asombro, y toma temblor mi carne.
7 ¿Por qué viven los impíos, y se envejecen, y aún crecen en riquezas?
8 Su simiente con ellos, compuesta delante de ellos; y sus renuevos delante de sus ojos.
9 Sus casas seguras de temor, ni hay azote de Dios sobre ellos.
10 Sus vacas conciben, no abortan; paren sus vacas, y no malogran su cría.
11 Salen sus chiquitos como manada de ovejas, y sus hijos andan saltando.
12 Al son de tamboril y cítara saltan, y se regocijan al son del órgano.
13 Gastan sus días en bien, y en un momento descienden al Seol.
14 Dicen pues a Dios: Apártate de nosotros, que no queremos el conocimiento de tus caminos.
15 ¿Quién es el Todopoderoso, para que le sirvamos? ¿Y de qué nos aprovechará que oremos a él?
16 He aquí que su bien no está en manos de ellos; el consejo de los impíos lejos esté de mí.
17 ¶ ¡Oh cuántas veces el candil de los impíos es apagado, y viene sobre ellos su contrición, y con su ira Dios les reparte dolores!
18 Serán como la paja delante del viento, y como el tamo que arrebata el torbellino.
19 Dios guardará para los hijos de ellos su violencia; y le dará su pago, para que conozca.
20 Verán sus ojos su quebranto, y beberá de la ira del Todopoderoso.
21 Porque ¿qué deleite tendrá él de su casa después de sí, siendo cortado el número de sus meses?
22 ¿Por ventura enseñará él a Dios conocimiento, juzgando él las alturas?
23 Este morirá en la fortaleza de su hermosura, todo quieto y pacífico.
24 Sus senos están llenos de leche, y sus huesos serán regados de tuétano.
25 Y este otro morirá en amargura de ánimo, y no habiendo comido jamás con gusto.
26 Igualmente yacerán ellos en el polvo, y gusanos los cubrirán.
27 He aquí, yo conozco vuestros pensamientos, y las imaginaciones que contra mí forjáis.
28 Porque decís: ¿Qué es de la casa del príncipe, y qué de la tienda de las moradas de los impíos?
29 ¿No habéis preguntado a los que pasan por los caminos, por cuyas señas no negaréis?
30 Que el malo es guardado para el día de la destrucción, para el día de las iras son llevados.
31 ¿Quién le denunciará en su cara su camino? Y de lo que él hizo, ¿quién le dará el pago?
32 Porque él ya será llevado a los sepulcros, y en la tumba permanecerá.
33 Los terrones del arroyo le serán ya dulces; y tras de él será llevado todo hombre, y antes de él han ido innumerables.
34 ¿Cómo, pues, me consoláis en vano, dado que vuestras respuestas quedan por mentira?

21 Entonces respondió Job, y dijo:
2 Oíd atentamente mi palabra,
Y sea esto el consuelo que me deis.
3 Toleradme, y yo hablaré;
Y después que haya hablado, escarneced.
4 ¿Acaso me quejo yo de algún hombre?
¿Y por qué no se ha de angustiar mi espíritu?
5 Miradme, y espantaos,
Y poned la mano sobre la boca.
6 Aun yo mismo, cuando me acuerdo, me asombro,
Y el temblor estremece mi carne.
7 ¿Por qué viven los impíos,
Y se envejecen, y aun crecen en riquezas?
8 Su descendencia se robustece a su vista,
Y sus renuevos están delante de sus ojos.
9 Sus casas están a salvo de temor,
Ni viene azote de Dios sobre ellos.
10 Sus toros engendran, y no fallan;
Paren sus vacas, y no malogran su cría.
11 Salen sus pequeñuelos como manada,
Y sus hijos andan saltando.
12 Al son de tamboril y de cítara saltan,
Y se regocijan al son de la flauta.
13 Pasan sus días en prosperidad,
Y en paz descienden al Seol.
14 Dicen, pues, a Dios: Apártate de nosotros,
Porque no queremos el conocimiento de tus caminos.
15 ¿Quién es el Todopoderoso, para que le sirvamos?
¿Y de qué nos aprovechará que oremos a él?
16 He aquí que su bien no está en mano de ellos;
El consejo de los impíos lejos esté de mí.
17 ¡Oh, cuántas veces la lámpara de los impíos es apagada,
Y viene sobre ellos su quebranto,
Y Dios en su ira les reparte dolores!
18 Serán como la paja delante del viento,
Y como el tamo que arrebata el torbellino.
19 Dios guardará para los hijos de ellos su violencia;
Le dará su pago, para que conozca.
20 Verán sus ojos su quebranto,
Y beberá de la ira del Todopoderoso.
21 Porque ¿qué deleite tendrá él de su casa después de sí,
Siendo cortado el número de sus meses?
22 ¿Enseñará alguien a Dios sabiduría,
Juzgando él a los que están elevados?
23 Este morirá en el vigor de su hermosura, todo quieto y pacífico;
24 Sus vasijas estarán llenas de leche,
Y sus huesos serán regados de tuétano.
25 Y este otro morirá en amargura de ánimo,
Y sin haber comido jamás con gusto.
26 Igualmente yacerán ellos en el polvo,
Y gusanos los cubrirán.
27 He aquí, yo conozco vuestros pensamientos,
Y las imaginaciones que contra mí forjáis.

Y sobre su túmulo estarán velando.

21 Ang sagot ni Job,
2 “Pakinggan ninyong mabuti itong aking sasabihin;
ituturing ko nang ito'y pag-aliw sa akin.
3 Ako muna'y inyong pagsalitain,
at pagkatapos nito, saka na ninyo laitin.
4 “Di laban sa tao itong aking hinanakit,
may sapat akong dahilan, kung bakit hindi makatiis.
5 Tingnan ninyo ang hitsura ko, hindi pa ba ito sapat
upang tumahimik na kayo at walang salitang mabigkas?
6 Tuwing iisipin ko itong sinapit ko,
ako'y nanginginig at nanlulumo.
7 Bakit kaya ang masama'y hinahayaan pang mabuhay,
tumatanda pa at nagtatagumpay?
8 Mayroon silang mga anak at mga apo,
naabutan pa nila ang paglaki ng mga ito.
9 Hindi pinipinsala ang kanilang mga tahanan;
parusa ng Diyos ay di nila nararanasan.
10 Ang pagdami ng kanilang mga hayop ay mabilis,
ang inahin nilang baka'y nasa ayos kung magbuntis.
11 Ang kanilang mga anak ay naghahabulan, parang tupang naglalaro at mayroon pang sayawan.
12 Umaawit sa saliw ng tamburin at lira, umiindak, nagsasayaw sa tunog ng mga plauta.
13 Ang buong buhay nila'y puspos ng kasaganaan;
at mapayapa ang kanilang pagharap sa kamatayan.
14 “Sinasabi nila sa Diyos, ‘Huwag mo kaming pakialaman.
Ayaw naming alamin ang iyong kalooban!
15 Sino ba ang Makapangyarihang Diyos upang sambahin namin?
At ano bang mapapala kung sa kanya'y mananalangin?’
16 Ang akala nila, sa sariling lakas galing ang tagumpay,
ngunit di ako sang-ayon sa kanilang palagay.
17 “Ilawan ba ng masama'y pinatay nang minsan?
Sila ba ay dumanas ng matinding kahirapan,
at ang parusa ng Diyos, sa kanila ba'y ipinataw?
18 Itinulad ba sa dayaming nililipad nitong hangin
o ipang walang laman, tinatangay sa papawirin?
19 “Sinasabi ninyong ang anak ay pinaparusahan dahil sa sala ng kanyang magulang.
Parusahan sana ng Diyos ang mismong may kasalanan!
20 Sa gayo'y mararanasan nila ang kahirapang sasapitin;
sa parusa ng Makapangyarihang Diyos, sila ang pagdanasin.
21 Kapag ang isang tao'y binawian ng buhay,
ano pang pakialam niya sa pamilyang naiwan?
22 Sinong makakapagturo ng dapat gawin ng Diyos,
na siyang humahatol sa buong sansinukob?
23 “May taong namamatay sa gitna ng kasaganaan,
panatag ang katayuan, maginhawa ang kabuhayan.
24 Katawan niya ay malusog,
at malalakas ang tuhod.
25 Mayroon namang namamatay sa kahirapan,
ni hindi nakalasap kahit kaunting kaligayahan.
26 Ngunit pareho silang sa alabok nahihimlay,
at kapwa inuuod ang kanilang katawan.
27 “Alam ko kung ano ang binabalak ninyong gawin
at ang masamang iniisip ninyo laban sa akin.
28 Tiyak na itatanong ninyo kung nasaan ang tahanan
ng taong namuhay sa kasamaan.
29 “Hindi ba ninyo naitatanong sa mga manlalakbay,
mga ulat nila'y hindi ba ninyo pinaniniwalaan?
30 Sa panahon ng kahirapan at kasawiang-palad,
di ba't ang masama ay laging naliligtas?
31 Sa kanyang kasamaa'y walang nagpapamukha,
walang naniningil sa masama niyang gawa.
32 Kapag siya ay namatay at inihatid na sa hukay,
maraming nagbabantay sa kanyang libingan.
33 Napakaraming sa kanya'y maghahatid sa libing,
pati lupang hihigan niya, sa kanya ay malambing.
34 Ngunit pang-aaliw ninyo'y walang kabuluhan,
pagkat lahat ng sagot ninyo'y pawang kasinungalingan!”

21 But Job answered and said,
2 Hear diligently my speech, and let this be your consolations.
3 Suffer me that I may speak; and after that I have spoken, mock on.
4 As for me, is my complaint to man? and if it were so, why should not my spirit be troubled?
5 Mark me, and be astonished, and lay your hand upon your mouth.
6 Even when I remember I am afraid, and trembling taketh hold on my flesh.
7 Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power?
8 Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes.
9 Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them.
10 Their bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.
11 They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.
12 They take the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ.
13 They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave.
14 Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.
15 What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?
16 Lo, their good is not in their hand: the counsel of the wicked is far from me.
17 How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! and how oft cometh their destruction upon them! God distributeth sorrows in his anger.
18 They are as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carrieth away.
19 God layeth up his iniquity for his children: he rewardeth him, and he shall know it.
20 His eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drink of the wrath of the Almighty.
21 For what pleasure hath he in his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off in the midst?
22 Shall any teach God knowledge? seeing he judgeth those that are high.
23 One dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.
24 His breasts are full of milk, and his bones are moistened with marrow.
25 And another dieth in the bitterness of his soul, and never eateth with pleasure.
26 They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.
27 Behold, I know your thoughts, and the devices which ye wrongfully imagine against me.
28 For ye say, Where is the house of the prince? and where are the dwelling places of the wicked?
29 Have ye not asked them that go by the way? and do ye not know their tokens,
30 That the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.
31 Who shall declare his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he hath done?
32 Yet shall he be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb.
33 The clods of the valley shall be sweet unto him, and every man shall draw after him, as there are innumerable before him.
34 How then comfort ye me in vain, seeing in your answers there remaineth falsehood?

2 “Listen carefully to my words;(A)
let this be the consolation you give me.(B)
3 Bear with me while I speak,
and after I have spoken, mock on.(C)
4 “Is my complaint(D) directed to a human being?
Why should I not be impatient?(E)
5 Look at me and be appalled;
clap your hand over your mouth.(F)
6 When I think about this, I am terrified;(G)
trembling seizes my body.(H)
7 Why do the wicked live on,
growing old and increasing in power?(I)
8 They see their children established around them,
their offspring before their eyes.(J)
9 Their homes are safe and free from fear;(K)
the rod of God is not on them.(L)
10 Their bulls never fail to breed;
their cows calve and do not miscarry.(M)
11 They send forth their children as a flock;(N)
their little ones dance about.
12 They sing to the music of timbrel and lyre;(O)
they make merry to the sound of the pipe.(P)
13 They spend their years in prosperity(Q)

17 “Yet how often is the lamp of the wicked snuffed out?(X)
How often does calamity(Y) come upon them,
the fate God allots in his anger?(Z)
18 How often are they like straw before the wind,

19 It is said, ‘God stores up the punishment of the wicked for their children.’(AD)
Let him repay the wicked, so that they themselves will experience it!(AE)
20 Let their own eyes see their destruction;(AF)
let them drink(AG) the cup of the wrath of the Almighty.(AH)
21 For what do they care about the families they leave behind(AI)
when their allotted months(AJ) come to an end?(AK)
22 “Can anyone teach knowledge to God,(AL)
since he judges even the highest?(AM)
23 One person dies in full vigor,(AN)
completely secure and at ease,(AO)
24 well nourished(AP) in body,[b]
bones(AQ) rich with marrow.(AR)
25 Another dies in bitterness of soul,(AS)
never having enjoyed anything good.
26 Side by side they lie in the dust,(AT)
and worms(AU) cover them both.(AV)
27 “I know full well what you are thinking,
the schemes by which you would wrong me.
28 You say, ‘Where now is the house of the great,(AW)
the tents where the wicked lived?’(AX)
29 Have you never questioned those who travel?
Have you paid no regard to their accounts—
30 that the wicked are spared from the day of calamity,(AY)
that they are delivered from[c] the day of wrath?(AZ)
31 Who denounces their conduct to their face?
Who repays them for what they have done?(BA)
32 They are carried to the grave,
and watch is kept over their tombs.(BB)
33 The soil in the valley is sweet to them;(BC)
