2 On another day the angels[a](A) came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came with them(B) to present himself before him. 2 And the Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?”
Satan answered the Lord, “From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it.”(C)
3 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.(D) And he still maintains his integrity,(E) though you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason.”(F)
4 “Skin for skin!” Satan replied. “A man will give all he has(G) for his own life. 5 But now stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones,(H) and he will surely curse you to your face.”(I)
6 The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, he is in your hands;(J) but you must spare his life.”(K)
7 So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the crown of his head.(L) 8 Then Job took a piece of broken pottery and scraped himself with it as he sat among the ashes.(M)
9 His wife said to him, “Are you still maintaining your integrity?(N) Curse God and die!”(O)
10 He replied, “You are talking like a foolish[b] woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?”(P)
In all this, Job did not sin in what he said.(Q)
11 When Job’s three friends, Eliphaz the Temanite,(R) Bildad the Shuhite(S) and Zophar the Naamathite,(T) heard about all the troubles that had come upon him, they set out from their homes and met together by agreement to go and sympathize with him and comfort him.(U) 12 When they saw him from a distance, they could hardly recognize him;(V) they began to weep aloud,(W) and they tore their robes(X) and sprinkled dust on their heads.(Y) 13 Then they sat on the ground(Z) with him for seven days and seven nights.(AA) No one said a word to him,(AB) because they saw how great his suffering was.

Satan Attacks Job's Health
2 Again (A)there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them to present himself before the Lord. 2 And the Lord said to Satan, “From where have you come?” Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it.” 3 And the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil? He still (B)holds fast his integrity, although you incited me against him to destroy him (C)without reason.” 4 Then Satan answered the Lord and said, “Skin for skin! All that a man has he will give for his life. 5 But (D)stretch out your hand and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will (E)curse you to your face.” 6 And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, he is in your hand; only spare his life.”
7 So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and struck Job with loathsome (F)sores from (G)the sole of his foot to the crown of his head. 8 And he took (H)a piece of broken pottery with which to scrape himself while he sat in (I)the ashes.
9 Then his wife said to him, “Do you still (J)hold fast your integrity? (K)Curse God and die.” 10 But he said to her, “You speak as one of the (L)foolish women would speak. (M)Shall we receive good from God, and shall we not receive evil?”[a] (N)In all this Job did not (O)sin with his lips.
Job's Three Friends
11 Now when Job's three (P)friends heard of all this evil that had come upon him, they came each from his own place, Eliphaz (Q)the Temanite, Bildad (R)the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. They made an appointment together to come to (S)show him sympathy and comfort him. 12 And when they saw him from a distance, they did not recognize him. And they raised their voices and wept, and they (T)tore their robes and sprinkled (U)dust on their heads toward heaven. 13 And they sat with him on the ground (V)seven days and seven nights, and no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that his suffering was very great.

2 又有一天， 神的众子都来侍立在耶和华面前，撒但也来到他们中间，侍立在耶和华面前。 2 耶和华问撒但：“你从哪里来？”撒但回答说：“我在地上徘徊，走来走去。” 3 耶和华问撒但：“你有没有注意到我的仆人约伯？世上再也没有一个人像他那样完全、正直，敬畏 神，远离罪恶。虽然你挑拨我与他作对，无缘无故使他倾家荡产，他还是坚守自己的纯全。” 4 撒但回答耶和华说：“人以皮换皮，宁可付出他所有的一切去保命。 5 只要你伸手伤害他的骨和肉，他一定当面亵渎你。” 6 耶和华对撒但说：“好吧，他在你手中，不过，要留存他的命。” 7 于是撒但从耶和华面前退去，击打约伯，使他从脚掌到头顶都生了毒疮。 8 约伯坐在灰烬中，拿瓦片刮自己。 9 他妻子对他说：“难道你还要坚守自己的纯全吗？你不如放弃 神，死掉算了。” 10 可是约伯对她说：“你说话像个愚妄的女人。难道我们从 神得福，也不应当受祸吗？”在这一切事上，约伯并没有用口犯罪。
三友的慰问
11 约伯的三个朋友，提幔人以利法、书亚人比勒达、拿玛人琐法，听到这一切降在他身上的灾祸，就各从自己的地方出发，相约而来对他表同情，安慰他。 12 他们从远处举目观望，竟认不出他来，就放声大哭，各自撕裂外袍，向天扬起尘土，落在自己头上。 13 他们就七天七夜与他一起坐在地上，没有人向他说一句话，因为他们看出他极其痛苦。

2 Un autre jour, les anges[a] se rendirent au conseil de Dieu. L’Accusateur (Satan) vint aussi parmi eux au conseil de l’Eternel.
2 L’Eternel dit à l’Accusateur : D’où viens-tu donc ?
Celui-ci lui répondit : Je viens de parcourir la terre et de la sillonner.
3 Alors l’Eternel demanda à l’Accusateur : As-tu remarqué mon serviteur Job ? Il n’y a personne comme lui sur la terre : c’est un homme intègre et droit, un homme qui craint Dieu et qui évite de mal faire. Il persévère toujours dans son intégrité. C’est pour rien que tu m’as incité à l’accabler.
4 L’Accusateur lui répondit : Peau pour peau, tout ce qui est à lui, l’homme y renoncera en échange de sa vie. 5 Mais porte donc la main sur son corps et l’on verra s’il ne te maudit pas en face !
6 Alors l’Eternel dit à l’Accusateur : Il est en ton pouvoir, mais épargne sa vie.
7 Alors l’Accusateur se retira de la présence de l’Eternel et il infligea à Job une douloureuse maladie de peau qui s’étendit de la plante des pieds jusqu’au crâne.
8 Job prit un morceau de poterie pour se gratter, et resta assis au milieu de la cendre.
9 Sa femme lui dit : Tu persévères toujours dans ton intégrité ! Maudis donc Dieu et meurs !
10 Mais il lui répondit : Tu parles comme une insensée. Quoi ! nous recevrions de Dieu le bonheur, et nous ne recevrions pas aussi le malheur !
Au milieu de tous ces malheurs, Job ne commit pas de péché dans tout ce qu’il dit.
Les trois amis de Job
11 Or, trois amis de Job apprirent que tous ces malheurs venaient de fondre sur lui. Ils vinrent chacun de son pays. C’était Eliphaz de Témân[b], Bildad de Shouah[c], et Tsophar de Naama[d]. En effet, ils décidèrent ensemble d’aller lui témoigner leur sympathie et le consoler. 12 Lorsqu’ils l’aperçurent de loin, ils ne le reconnurent pas, et ils se mirent à pleurer à grand bruit. Ils déchirèrent leur manteau et jetèrent de la poussière en l’air, au-dessus de leur tête. 13 Puis ils restèrent là, assis par terre, à ses côtés, sept jours et sept nuits. Aucun d’eux ne lui dit un mot car ils voyaient bien combien sa souffrance était grande.
