2 Y otro día aconteció que vinieron los hijos de Dios para presentarse delante del SEÑOR, y vino también entre ellos Satanás compareciendo delante del SEÑOR.
2 Y dijo el SEÑOR a Satanás: ¿De dónde vienes? Respondió Satanás al SEÑOR, y dijo: De rodear la tierra, y de andar por ella.
3 Y el SEÑOR dijo a Satanás: ¿No has considerado a mi esclavo Job, que no hay otro como él en la tierra, varón perfecto y recto, temeroso de Dios y apartado de mal, y que aún retiene su perfección, habiéndome tú incitado contra él, para que lo arruinara sin causa?
4 Y respondiendo Satanás dijo al SEÑOR: Piel por piel, todo lo que el hombre tiene dará por su alma.
5 Mas extiende ahora tu mano, y tócalo a él mismo, y a su carne, y verás si no te blasfema en tu rostro.
6 Y el SEÑOR dijo a Satanás: He aquí, él está en tu mano; mas guarda su vida.
7 ¶ Y salió Satanás de delante del SEÑOR, e hirió a Job de una maligna sarna desde la planta de su pie hasta la coronilla de su cabeza.
8 Y tomaba una teja para rascarse con ella, y estaba sentado en medio de ceniza.
9 ¶ Entonces le dijo su mujer: ¿Aún retienes tu integridad? Blasfema a Dios, y muérete.
10 Y él le dijo: Como suele hablar cualquiera de las locas, has hablado. Está bien: recibimos el bien de Dios, ¿y el mal no lo recibiremos? En todo esto no pecó Job con sus labios.
11 ¶ Y tres amigos de Job, Elifaz temanita, y Bildad suhita, y Zofar naamatita, luego que oyeron todo este mal que le había sobrevenido, vinieron cada uno de su lugar; porque habían concertado de venir juntos a condolerse de él, y a consolarle.
12 Los cuales alzando los ojos desde lejos, no lo conocieron, y lloraron a voz en grito; y cada uno de ellos rasgó su manto, y esparcieron polvo sobre sus cabezas hacia el cielo.
13 Así se sentaron con él en tierra por siete días y siete noches, y ninguno le hablaba palabra, porque veían que el dolor era muy grande.

2 Aconteció que otro día vinieron los hijos de Dios para presentarse delante de Jehová, y Satanás vino también entre ellos presentándose delante de Jehová. 2 Y dijo Jehová a Satanás: ¿De dónde vienes? Respondió Satanás a Jehová, y dijo: De rodear la tierra, y de andar por ella. 3 Y Jehová dijo a Satanás: ¿No has considerado a mi siervo Job, que no hay otro como él en la tierra, varón perfecto y recto, temeroso de Dios y apartado del mal, y que todavía retiene su integridad, aun cuando tú me incitaste contra él para que lo arruinara sin causa? 4 Respondiendo Satanás, dijo a Jehová: Piel por piel, todo lo que el hombre tiene dará por su vida. 5 Pero extiende ahora tu mano, y toca su hueso y su carne, y verás si no blasfema contra ti en tu misma presencia. 6 Y Jehová dijo a Satanás: He aquí, él está en tu mano; mas guarda su vida.
7 Entonces salió Satanás de la presencia de Jehová, e hirió a Job con una sarna maligna desde la planta del pie hasta la coronilla de la cabeza. 8 Y tomaba Job un tiesto para rascarse con él, y estaba sentado en medio de ceniza.
9 Entonces le dijo su mujer: ¿Aún retienes tu integridad? Maldice a Dios, y muérete. 10 Y él le dijo: Como suele hablar cualquiera de las mujeres fatuas, has hablado. ¿Qué? ¿Recibiremos de Dios el bien, y el mal no lo recibiremos? En todo esto no pecó Job con sus labios.
11 Y tres amigos de Job, Elifaz temanita, Bildad suhita, y Zofar naamatita, luego que oyeron todo este mal que le había sobrevenido, vinieron cada uno de su lugar; porque habían convenido en venir juntos para condolerse de él y para consolarle. 12 Los cuales, alzando los ojos desde lejos, no lo conocieron, y lloraron a gritos; y cada uno de ellos rasgó su manto, y los tres esparcieron polvo sobre sus cabezas hacia el cielo. 13 Así se sentaron con él en tierra por siete días y siete noches, y ninguno le hablaba palabra, porque veían que su dolor era muy grande.

2 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the Lord.
2 And the Lord said unto Satan, “From whence comest thou?” And Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down upon it.”
3 And the Lord said unto Satan, “Hast thou considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one who feareth God and escheweth evil? And still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst Me against him to destroy him without cause.”
4 And Satan answered the Lord and said, “Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.
5 But put forth Thine hand now and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse Thee to Thy face!”
6 And the Lord said unto Satan, “Behold, he is in thine hand; only spare his life.”
7 So went Satan forth from the presence of the Lord, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.
8 And he took him a potsherd with which to scrape himself, and he sat down among the ashes.
9 Then said his wife unto him, “Dost thou still retain thine integrity? Curse God, and die!”
10 But he said unto her, “Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?” In all this did not Job sin with his lips.
11 Now when Job’s three friends heard of all this evil that had come upon him, they came every one from his own place: Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite.For they had made an appointment together to come to mourn with him and to comfort him.
12 And when they lifted up their eyes afar off and knew him not, they lifted up their voice and wept; and they rent every one his mantle, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven.
13 So they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spoke a word unto him; for they saw that his grief was very great.

2 On another day the angels[a](A) came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came with them(B) to present himself before him. 2 And the Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?”
Satan answered the Lord, “From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it.”(C)
3 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.(D) And he still maintains his integrity,(E) though you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason.”(F)
4 “Skin for skin!” Satan replied. “A man will give all he has(G) for his own life. 5 But now stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones,(H) and he will surely curse you to your face.”(I)
6 The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, he is in your hands;(J) but you must spare his life.”(K)
7 So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the crown of his head.(L) 8 Then Job took a piece of broken pottery and scraped himself with it as he sat among the ashes.(M)
9 His wife said to him, “Are you still maintaining your integrity?(N) Curse God and die!”(O)
10 He replied, “You are talking like a foolish[b] woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?”(P)
In all this, Job did not sin in what he said.(Q)
11 When Job’s three friends, Eliphaz the Temanite,(R) Bildad the Shuhite(S) and Zophar the Naamathite,(T) heard about all the troubles that had come upon him, they set out from their homes and met together by agreement to go and sympathize with him and comfort him.(U) 12 When they saw him from a distance, they could hardly recognize him;(V) they began to weep aloud,(W) and they tore their robes(X) and sprinkled dust on their heads.(Y) 13 Then they sat on the ground(Z) with him for seven days and seven nights.(AA) No one said a word to him,(AB) because they saw how great his suffering was.
