⁹ Then his wife said to him, “Do you still ^(A)hold fast your integrity? ^(B)Curse God and die.”

⁵ But ^(A)stretch out your hand and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will ^(B)curse you to your face.”

³ And the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil? He still ^(A)holds fast his integrity, although you incited me against him to destroy him ^(B)without reason.”

¹⁴ You have said, ^(A)‘It is vain to serve God. ^(B)What is the profit of our keeping his charge or of walking as in mourning before the Lord of hosts?

⁶ So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise,^[a] she took of its fruit ^(A)and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, ^(B)and he ate.

¹¹ But ^(A)stretch out your hand and ^(B)touch all that he has, and he will ^(C)curse you ^(D)to your face.”

³³ And while he was still speaking with them, the messenger came down to him and said, “This trouble is from the Lord! ^(A)Why should I wait for the Lord any longer?”

¹² The man said, ^(A)“The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.”

⁴ For when Solomon was old his wives turned away his heart after other gods, and ^(A)his heart was not wholly true to the Lord his God, ^(B)as was the heart of David his father.
