All Job Has Is in Satan’s Hand

(A)Now it was the day that the (B)sons of God came to stand before [a]Yahweh, and [b]Satan also came among them. And Yahweh said to Satan, “From where do you come?” Then Satan answered Yahweh and said, “(C)From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.” Then Yahweh said to Satan, “Have you set your heart upon (D)My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, (E)a blameless and upright man, [c]fearing God and turning away from evil.” And (F)Satan answered Yahweh and said, “Does Job [d]fear God without cause? 10 (G)Have You not made a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? (H)You have blessed the work of his hands, and his (I)possessions have increased in the land. 11 (J)But send forth Your hand now and (K)touch all that he has; he will surely curse You to Your face.” 12 Then Yahweh said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your hand, only do not send forth your hand toward him.” So Satan went out from the presence of Yahweh.

And it happened one day[a] that[b] the sons of God[c] came to present themselves before Yahweh, and Satan[d] also came into their midst. So[e] Yahweh said to Satan,[f] “From where have you come?”

Then[g] Satan[h] answered Yahweh and said, “From roaming on the earth and from walking about in it.”

So[i] Yahweh said to Satan,[j] “Have you considered[k] my servant Job? Indeed,[l] there is no one like him on the earth—a blameless man and upright and God-fearing and turning away from evil.”

Then[m] Satan[n] answered Yahweh and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing? 10 Have you[o] not put a fence around him and his household and around all that belongs to him[p] on every side?[q] You have blessed the work of his hands, and his livestock[r] has increased in the land. 11 But,[s] on the other hand, stretch out[t] your hand and touch all that belongs to him[u] and see whether[v] he will curse[w] you to your face.”

12 So[x] Yahweh said to Satan,[y] “Look, all that belongs to him[z] is in your power.[aa] Only do not stretch out your hand against[ab] him.” So[ac] Satan[ad] went out from Yahweh’s presence.[ae]
