³⁴ To this they replied, “You were steeped in sin at birth;^(A) how dare you lecture us!” And they threw him out.^(B)

² His disciples asked him, “Rabbi,^(A) who sinned,^(B) this man^(C) or his parents,^(D) that he was born blind?”

² Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way?^{(A) 3} I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. ⁴ Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam^(B) fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem?

²⁵ “The Lord has done this for me,” she said. “In these days he has shown his favor and taken away my disgrace^(A) among the people.”

⁷ “The Lord will save the dwellings of Judah first, so that the honor of the house of David and of Jerusalem’s inhabitants may not be greater than that of Judah.^(A)
