¹⁶ But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a ^(A)heavenly one. Therefore ^(B)God is not ^[a]ashamed to be ^(C)called their God; for ^(D)He has prepared a city for them.

²⁸ Do not be amazed at this; for ^[a](A)a time is coming when ^(B)all who are in the tombs will hear His voice, ²⁹ and will come out: ^(C)those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the bad deeds to a resurrection of judgment.

¹⁴ and you will be blessed, since they ^[a]do not have the means to repay you; for you will be repaid at ^(A)the resurrection of the righteous.”

¹⁵ having a hope in God, which ^(A)these men cherish themselves, that there shall certainly be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked.

³¹ And ^(A)He will send forth His angels with ^(B)a great trumpet blast, and they will gather together His ^[a](C)elect from ^(D)the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.

⁴⁰ At that time there will be two men in the field; one ^[a]will be taken and one ^[b]will be left.

^2 (A)Beloved, now we are ^(B)children of God, and ^(C)it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He ^(D)appears, we will be ^(E)like Him, because we will ^(F)see Him just as He is.

⁵ The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. ^(A)This is the first resurrection. ^6 (B)Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the ^(C)second death has no power, but they will be ^(D)priests of God and of Christ, and will ^(E)reign with Him for a thousand years.
