Judah’s Sin and Punishment

⁸ And you shall ^(A)write very plainly on the stones all the words of this law.”

² And it shall be, on the day ^(A)when you cross over the Jordan to the land which the Lord your God is giving you, that ^(B)you shall set up for yourselves large stones, and whitewash them with lime. ³ You shall write on them all the words of this law, when you have crossed over, that you may enter the land which the Lord your God is giving you, ^(C)‘a land flowing with milk and honey,’ just as the Lord God of your fathers promised you.

¹⁶ Now the ^(A)tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God engraved on the tablets.

²¹ And the stones shall have the names of the sons of Israel, twelve according to their names, like the engravings of a signet, each one with its own name; they shall be according to the twelve tribes.

¹¹ With the work of an ^(A)engraver in stone, like the engravings of a signet, you shall engrave the two stones with the names of the sons of Israel. You shall set them in settings of gold. ¹² And you shall put the two stones on the shoulders of the ephod as memorial stones for the sons of Israel. So ^(B)Aaron shall bear their names before the Lord on his two shoulders ^(C)as a memorial.
