²² Why do you, like God, ^(A)pursue me?
    Why are you not satisfied with my flesh?

²⁶ For they ^(A)persecute him whom ^(B)you have struck down,
    and they recount the pain of ^(C)those you have wounded.

^3 (A)who eat the flesh of my people,
    and flay their skin from off them,
and break their bones in pieces
    and chop them up like meat in a pot,
    like flesh in a cauldron.

^23 (A)and I will put it into the hand of your tormentors,
    ^(B)who have said to you,
    ‘Bow down, that we may pass over’;
and ^(C)you have made your back like the ground
    and like the street for them to pass over.”

³¹ if the men of my tent have not said,
    ‘Who is there that has not been filled with his ^(A)meat?’

¹³     his ^(A)archers surround me.
He slashes open my kidneys ^(B)and does not spare;
    he ^(C)pours out my gall on the ground.
¹⁴ He breaks me with ^(D)breach upon breach;
    he ^(E)runs upon me like a warrior.

¹¹ God gives me up to the ungodly
    and casts me into the hands of the wicked.

²⁵ Will you frighten ^(A)a driven leaf
    and pursue dry ^(B)chaff?

¹⁶ And were my head lifted up,^[a] you would hunt me like ^(A)a lion
    and again work ^(B)wonders against me.
