El orden divino acaba con el malvado
18 Bildad de Súaj habló así:
2 ¿Cuándo acabarán con tanto discurso?
Reflexionen primero y hablemos después.
3 ¿Por qué dejarnos tratar como animales?
¿O piensan acaso que carecemos de talento?
4 Tu cólera está acabando contigo,
¿pero quedará por eso deshabitada la tierra
y serán las rocas desencajadas de su sitio?
5 La lámpara del malvado se apaga,
ya no brilla el resplandor de su hogar.
6 La luz de su tienda va menguando,
el candil que lo alumbra se extingue.
7 Pierde fuerza su pie vigoroso,
lo descarrían sus propios proyectos;
8 sus pies lo conducen a la red,
camina por encima de una malla;
9 un lazo le atrapa los tobillos,
un cepo se cierra sobre ellos;
10 un nudo se oculta en el suelo,
una trampa lo aguarda en el camino.
11 Lo rodean terrores espantosos,
lo acosan cuando intenta caminar:
12 la Desgracia lo persigue hambrienta,
el Desastre espera su traspiés;
13 la Enfermedad devora su piel,
la Muerte corroe sus miembros.
14 Arrancado del amparo de su tienda,
lo arrastran ante el Rey de los terrores.
15 El fuego se instala en su tienda,
esparcen azufre en su morada;
16 por abajo se pudren sus raíces,
por arriba se secan sus ramas;
17 su memoria se borra en el país,
se queda sin nombre en la comarca.
18 Lo llevan de la luz a las tinieblas,
acaba expulsado del mundo,
19 sin familia ni prole entre los suyos,
sin nadie que ocupe su terruño.
20 Su destino espanta al Occidente,
el terror atenaza a los de Oriente.
21 Así acaba la morada del malvado,
el lugar de quien no reconoce a Dios.

18 書亞人比勒達回答說：
2 「你要狡辯到何時呢？
你先想清楚，然後我們再談。
3 為何你把我們當作牲畜，
把我們視為蠢貨？
4 你這氣得要撕碎自己的人，
大地會因你而荒涼嗎？
磐石會因你而挪移嗎？
5 「惡人的光必熄滅。
他的火焰不再閃耀。
6 他帳篷中一片黑暗，
他上面的燈光熄滅。
7 惡人強勁的步伐變得蹣跚，
他必被自己的陰謀所害。
8 他自陷網羅，
步入圈套。
9 套索纏住他的腳跟，
網羅緊緊地罩住他。
10 土裡埋著絆他的繩索，
路上有陷阱等待著他。
11 恐懼四面籠罩著他，
步步緊追著他。
12 他餓得氣力衰竭，
災禍隨時臨到他。
13 疾病侵蝕他的皮肉，
死亡吞噬他的肢體。
14 他被拖出安穩的帳篷，
被押到冥王[a]那裡。
15 他的帳篷燃燒著烈焰，
他的居所撒滿了硫磺。
16 他下面的根莖枯乾，
上面的枝子枯萎。
17 他從世上銷聲匿跡，
無人記得他的名字。
18 他從光明中被趕入黑暗，
他被逐出這個世界。
19 他在本族中無子無孫，
他所居之地無人生還。
20 他的下場令西方的人震驚，
令東方的人戰慄。
21 這就是不義之人的結局，
不認識上帝之人的下場。」

Chapter 18
Bildad’s Second Speech. 1 Then Bildad the Shuhite answered and said:
2 When will you put an end to words?
Reflect, and then we can have discussion.
3 Why are we accounted like beasts,
equal to them in your sight?
4 You who tear yourself in your anger—
shall the earth be neglected on your account
or the rock be moved out of its place?
5 Truly, the light of the wicked is extinguished;
the flame of his fire casts no light.
6 In his tent light is darkness;
the lamp above him goes out.(A)
7 His vigorous steps are hemmed in,
his own counsel casts him down.
8 A net catches him by the feet,
he wanders into a pitfall.
9 A trap seizes him by the heel,
a snare lays hold of him.
10 A noose is hidden for him on the ground,
a netting for him on the path.
11 On every side terrors frighten him;(B)
they harry him at each step.
12 His strength is famished,
disaster is ready at his side,
13 His skin is eaten to the limbs,
the firstborn of Death[a] eats his limbs.
14 He is plucked from the security of his tent;
and marched off to the king of terrors.[b]
15 Fire lodges in his tent,
over his abode brimstone is scattered.
16 Below, his roots dry up,
and above, his branches wither.
17 His memory perishes from the earth,(C)
and he has no name in the countryside.
18 He is driven from light into darkness,
and banished from the world.
19 He has neither offshoot nor offspring among his people,
no survivor where once he dwelt.
20 Those who come after shall be appalled at his fate;
those who went before are seized with horror.
21 So is it then with the dwelling of the impious;
such is the place of the one who does not know God!
