⁷ Their strong steps are shortened,
    and their own schemes throw them down.^(A)

¹² When you walk, your step will not be hampered,
    and if you run, you will not stumble.^(A)

³⁶ You gave me a wide place for my steps under me,
    and my feet did not slip.

⁶ The thing itself shall be carried to Assyria
    as tribute to the great king.^[a]
Ephraim shall be put to shame,
    and Israel shall be ashamed of his idol.^[b](A)

³⁰ would have none of my counsel
    and despised all my reproof,^(A)
31 therefore they shall eat the fruit of their way
    and be sated with their own devices.^(B)
32 For waywardness kills the simple,
    and the complacency of fools destroys them;^(C)

¹⁶ He also allured you out of distress
    into a broad place where there was no constraint,
    and what was set on your table was full of fatness.^(A)

²² In full sufficiency they will be in distress;
    all the force of misery will come upon them.

⁶ Your own mouth condemns you, not I;
    your own lips testify against you.^(A)
