² Those who walk uprightly enter into peace

⁸ If I ascend to heaven, you are there;
    if I make my bed in Sheol, you are there.^(A)

¹⁴ Wait for the Lord;
    be strong, and let your heart take courage;
    wait for the Lord!^(A)

²³ I know that you will bring me to death,
    to the house appointed for all living.^(A)

17 “My spirit is broken; my days are extinct;
    the grave is ready for me.^(A)

¹⁴ If mortals die, will they live again?
    All the days of my service I would wait
    until my release should come.^(A)

²¹ before I go, never to return,
    to the land of gloom and deep darkness,
²² the land of gloom^[a] and chaos,
    where light is like darkness.’ ”
