⁸ You have shriveled me up,
And it is a ^(A)witness against me;
My leanness rises up against me
And bears witness to my face.

¹⁷ You renew Your witnesses against me,
And increase Your indignation toward me;
Changes and war are ever with me.

^20 (A)My bone clings to my skin and to my flesh,
And I have escaped by the skin of my teeth.

¹⁶ From the ends of the earth we have heard songs:
“Glory to the righteous!”
But I said, ^[a]“I am ruined, ruined!
Woe to me!
^(A)The treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously,
Indeed, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously.”

¹⁶ Therefore the Lord, the ^[a]Lord of hosts,
Will send leanness among his fat ones;
And under his glory
He will kindle a burning
Like the burning of a fire.

²⁴ My ^(A)knees are weak through fasting,
And my flesh is feeble from lack of fatness.

^15 (A)And He gave them their request,
But ^(B)sent leanness into their soul.
