15 “I have sewed sackcloth(A) over my skin
    and buried my brow in the dust.(B)
16 My face is red with weeping,(C)
    dark shadows ring my eyes;(D)
17 yet my hands have been free of violence(E)
    and my prayer is pure.(F)

18 “Earth, do not cover my blood;(G)
    may my cry(H) never be laid to rest!(I)
19 Even now my witness(J) is in heaven;(K)
    my advocate is on high.(L)
20 My intercessor(M) is my friend[a](N)
    as my eyes pour out(O) tears(P) to God;
21 on behalf of a man he pleads(Q) with God
    as one pleads for a friend.
