Segunda serie de diálogos(A)
Elifaz
15 El que es sabio no responde con palabras huecas
ni se hincha con razones que sólo son viento;
3 no habla sólo por hablar
ni usa argumentos sin valor.
4 Pero tú acabas con la reverencia a Dios:
¡destruyes la devoción sincera!
5 Tu mala conciencia hace que hables así
y que uses palabras engañosas.
6 No hace falta que yo te acuse,
pues tu propia boca te condena.
7 ¿Piensas que antes de ti no hubo ningún hombre,
y que ni siquiera existían las montañas?
8 ¿Acaso te crees el consejero privado de Dios,
o el único sabio del mundo?
9 ¿Qué sabes tú que nosotros no sepamos?
¿Qué conoces tú que nosotros ignoremos?
10 ¡Nosotros somos gente ya madura,
con más experiencia que tu propio padre!
11 ¿No te basta con que Dios mismo te consuele
y con que te hablemos suavemente?
12 ¿Por qué te dejas llevar de la pasión
y echas chispas por los ojos?
13 ¿Por qué te enfureces contra Dios
y das rienda suelta a tus protestas?
14 No hay hombre que sea puro
ni que esté libre de culpa.
15 Si ni aun los ángeles merecen toda su confianza,
si ni siquiera el cielo es puro a sus ojos,
16 ¡mucho menos el hombre, corrompido y despreciable,
que hace el mal como quien bebe agua!
17 Escúchame, pues te voy a decir
algo que sé por experiencia,
18 algo que los sabios nos enseñan.
Ellos lo aprendieron de sus antepasados,
19 a quienes fue dada la tierra
y entre quienes no hubo mezcla de extranjeros.
20 La vida del hombre malvado y violento
es corta y llena de tormentos.
21 Oye ruidos que lo asustan;
cuando más seguro está, lo asaltan los ladrones.
22 No tiene esperanza de escapar de la oscuridad:
¡un puñal está en espera de matarlo!
23 Su cadáver servirá de alimento a los buitres;
él sabe que su ruina es inevitable.
24 La oscuridad lo llenará de terror,
y lo asaltarán la angustia y la desgracia,
como cuando un rey ataca en la batalla.
25 Esto le pasa al que levanta su mano contra Dios,
al que se atreve a desafiar al Todopoderoso,
26 al que, protegido con un escudo,
se lanza en forma insolente contra Dios.
27 Llenos de grasa tiene
la cara y los costados.
28 Las ciudades donde viva quedarán en ruinas;
las casas quedarán abandonadas
y convertidas en un montón de escombros.
29 No será rico por mucho tiempo,
ni se extenderán sus posesiones en la tierra.
30 No podrá escapar de las tinieblas.
Será como una planta cuyos retoños quema el fuego
o cuyas flores arranca el viento.
31 Que no confíe tontamente en el engaño,
pues no logrará más que ser engañado.
32 Antes de tiempo se marchitarán sus ramas
y no volverán a reverdecer.
33 Será como una vid cuyas uvas no maduran,
como un olivo cuyas flores se caen.
34 Los impíos no tendrán descendencia,
y sus casas, enriquecidas con soborno,
arderán en el fuego.
35 Están preñados de maldad y dan a luz desdicha;
el fruto que producen es el engaño.

Nagsalita si Elifaz
15 Sumagot si Elifaz na taga-Teman, 2 “Job, ang taong marunong ay hindi nagsasalita ng walang kabuluhan. 3 Hindi siya nakikipagtalo sa mga salitang walang saysay. 4 Pero ang mga sinasabi moʼy magtutulak sa tao upang mawalan ng paggalang sa Dios at magiging hadlang sa paglilingkod sa kanya. 5 Ang sinasabi mo ay bunga ng iyong kasamaan. At dinadaya mo ang iba sa pamamagitan ng iyong mga sinasabi. 6 Hindi na kailangang hatulan pa kita, dahil ang iyong mga sinasabi mismo ang nagpapatunay laban sa iyo. 7 Akala mo baʼy ikaw ang unang isinilang? Ipinanganak ka na ba bago nilikha ang mga bundok? 8 Narinig mo na ba ang mga plano ng Dios? Ikaw lang ba ang marunong? 9 Ano bang alam mo na hindi namin alam? At ano ang naunawaan mo na hindi namin naunawaan? 10 Natuto kami sa matatanda na mas matanda pa kaysa sa iyong ama. 11 Sinabi namin sa iyo ang mga salitang mula sa Dios na makapagbibigay ng lakas at aliw sa iyo. Hindi pa ba sapat iyon? 12 Bakit nagpapadala ka sa iyong damdamin? Nabubulagan ka na ba sa katotohanan 13 para magalit ka sa Dios at magsalita ng masama laban sa kanya? 14 Kaya ba ng isang tao na mamuhay ng malinis at matuwid sa paningin ng Dios? 15 Ni hindi nga lubusang nagtitiwala ang Dios sa mga anghel niya. Kung ang mga nilalang niyang ito na nasa langit ay hindi lubusang malinis sa kanyang paningin, 16 ang tao pa kaya na ipinanganak na masama at makasalanan, at uhaw sa paggawa ng masama?
17 “Job, pakinggan mo ako. Sasabihin ko sa iyo at ipapaliwanag ang mga naranasan ko. 18 May masasabi rin tungkol dito ang mga marurunong na tao na natuto sa kanilang mga ninuno. 19 Sila lang ang nagmamay-ari ng kanilang lupain, at walang dayuhang sumakop sa kanila.
20 “Ang taong masama ay maghihirap habang buhay. 21 Palagi siyang kinakabahan kahit na walang panganib, dahil iniisip niya na baka salakayin siya ng mga tulisan. 22 Takot din siyang pumunta sa dilim dahil baka may pumatay sa kanya. 23 Kung saan-saan siya naghahanap ng pagkain. Alam niyang malapit nang dumating ang kapahamakan.[a] 24 Kaya labis ang kanyang pagkatakot, katulad ng hari na naghahanda sa pagsalakay sa kanyang mga kaaway. 25 Nangyayari ito sa kanya dahil nagrerebelde at sumusuway siya sa Makapangyarihang Dios. 26 Para siyang nakahawak sa matibay na kalasag at handang kalabanin ang Dios. 27 Kahit mataba at mayaman siya ngayon, 28 titira siya sa mga gibang bayan, sa mga bahay na walang nakatira at malapit nang gumuho. 29 Hindi na dadami ang kanyang kayamanan, at ang mga natitira niyang yaman at ari-arian ay hindi na magtatagal. 30 Hindi siya makakatakas sa kapahamakan.[b] Magiging tulad siya ng puno na ang mga sangaʼy masusunog. Lahat ng ari-arian niya ay mawawala sa isang ihip lamang ng Dios. 31 Huwag sana niyang dayain ang sarili niya sa pamamagitan ng pagtitiwala sa mga bagay na walang kabuluhan, dahil wala siyang makukuha sa mga iyon. 32 Maagang darating sa kanya ang kanyang parusa at hindi na siya uunlad pa.[c] 33 At magiging tulad siya ng ubas na nalalagas ang mga hilaw na bunga o katulad ng olibo na nalalagas ang mga bulaklak. 34 Sapagkat mamamatay ng walang lahi ang mga taong walang takot sa Dios. At ang mga bahay na itinayo nila mula sa mga suhol ay masusunog. 35 Ang lagi nilang iniisip ay ang manggulo, gumawa ng masama, at mandaya.”

Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
15 Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered [Job],
2 Should a wise man utter such windy knowledge [as we have just heard] and fill himself with the east wind [of withering, parching, and violent accusations]?
3 Should he reason with unprofitable talk? Or with speeches with which he can do no good?
4 Indeed, you are doing away with [reverential] fear, and you are hindering and diminishing meditation and devotion before God.
5 For your iniquity teaches your mouth, and you choose the tongue of the crafty.
6 Your own mouth condemns you, and not I; yes, your own lips testify against you.
7 Are you the first man that was born [the original wise man]? Or were you created before the hills?
8 Were you present to hear the secret counsel of God? And do you limit [the possession of] wisdom to yourself?
9 What do you know that we know not? What do you understand that is not equally clear to us?
10 Among us are both the gray-haired and the aged, older than your father by far.
11 Are God’s consolations [as we have interpreted them to you] too trivial for you? Is there any secret thing (any bosom sin) which you have not given up? [Or] were we too gentle [in our first speech] toward you to be effective?
12 Why does your heart carry you away [why allow yourself to be controlled by feeling]? And why do your eyes flash [in anger or contempt],
13 That you turn your spirit against God and let [such] words [as you have spoken] go out of your mouth?
14 What is man, that he could be pure and clean? And he who is born of a woman, that he could be right and just?
15 Behold, [God] puts no trust in His holy ones [the angels]; indeed, the heavens are not clean in His sight—
16 How much less that which is abominable and corrupt, a man who drinks iniquity like water?
17 I will show you, hear me; and that which I have seen I will relate,
18 What wise men have not hid but have freely communicated; it was told to them by their fathers,
19 Unto whom alone the land was given, and no stranger intruded or passed among them [corrupting the truth].
20 The wicked man suffers with [self-inflicted] torment all his days, through all the years that are numbered and laid up for him, the oppressor.
21 A [dreadful] sound of terrors is in his ears; in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him [the dwellings of robbers are not at peace].
22 He believes that he will not return out of darkness, and [because of his guilt] he is waited for by the sword [of God’s vengeance].
23 He wanders abroad for food, saying, Where is it? He knows that the day of darkness and destruction is already close upon him.
24 Distress and anguish terrify him; [he knows] they shall prevail against him, like a king ready for battle.
25 Because he has stretched out his hand against God and bids defiance and behaves himself proudly against the Almighty,
26 Running stubbornly against Him with a thickly ornamented shield;
27 Because he has covered his face with his fat, adding layers of fat on his loins [giving himself up to animal pleasures],
28 And has lived in desolate [God-forsaken] cities and in houses which no man should inhabit, which were destined to become heaps [of ruins];
29 He shall not be rich, neither shall his wealth last, neither shall his produce bend to the earth nor his possessions be extended on the earth.
30 He shall not depart out of darkness [and escape from calamity; the wrath of God] shall consume him as flame consumes a dry tree, and by the blast of His mouth he shall be swept away.
31 Let him not deceive himself and trust in vanity (emptiness, falseness, and futility), for these shall be his recompense [for such living].
32 It shall be accomplished and paid in full while he still lives, and his branch shall not be green [but shall wither away].
33 He shall fail to bring his grapes to maturity [leaving them to wither unnourished] on the vine and shall cast off blossoms [and fail to bring forth fruit] like the olive tree.
34 For the company of the godless shall be barren, and fire shall consume the tents of bribery (wrong and injustice).
35 They conceive mischief and bring forth iniquity, and their inmost soul hatches deceit.
