14 “人为妇人所生，日子短少，多有患难。 2 出来如花，又被割下，飞去如影，不能存留。 3 这样的人，你岂睁眼看他吗？又叫我来受审吗？ 4 谁能使洁净之物出于污秽之中呢？无论谁也不能。 5 人的日子既然限定，他的月数在你那里，你也派定他的界限，使他不能越过， 6 便求你转眼不看他，使他得歇息，直等他像雇工人完毕他的日子。
7 “树若被砍下，还可指望发芽，嫩枝生长不息。 8 其根虽然衰老在地里，干也死在土中， 9 及至得了水气，还要发芽，又长枝条，像新栽的树一样。 10 但人死亡而消灭，他气绝，竟在何处呢？ 11 海中的水绝尽，江河消散干涸。 12 人也是如此，躺下不再起来，等到天没有了，仍不得复醒，也不得从睡中唤醒。
13 “唯愿你把我藏在阴间，存于隐密处，等你的愤怒过去。愿你为我定了日期，记念我。 14 人若死了，岂能再活呢？我只要在我一切争战的日子，等我被释放[a]的时候来到。 15 你呼叫，我便回答；你手所做的，你必羡慕。 16 但如今你数点我的脚步，岂不窥察我的罪过吗？ 17 我的过犯被你封在囊中，也缝严了我的罪孽。
18 “山崩变为无有，磐石挪开原处； 19 水流消磨石头，所流溢的洗去地上的尘土。你也照样灭绝人的指望。 20 你攻击人常常得胜，使他去世；你改变他的容貌，叫他往而不回。 21 他儿子得尊荣，他也不知道；降为卑，他也不觉得。 22 但知身上疼痛，心中悲哀。”

一生短暂，充满患难。
2 他如花盛开，转眼凋谢；
如影消逝，无法久留。
3 你还察看这样的世人吗？
还要把我召来受审吗？
4 谁能使污秽产生洁净呢？
没有人能。
5 人的年日已被限定，
你掌管他的岁月，
设定他无法逾越的界限。
6 求你转身，别去管他，
好让他如雇工度完他的日子。
7 树木若被砍下，还有希望，
它仍可重新萌芽，
嫩枝生长不息。
8 虽然树根在土里衰老，
树干在地里死去，
9 但一有水气，
它就会像新栽的树一样发芽长枝。
10 但人一死，就失去力量；
人一咽气，就不知去向。
11 湖水会枯竭，
江河会干涸，
12 人躺下便不再起来，
到诸天不复存在，
他仍不会醒来，
不会从长眠中被唤醒。
13 但愿你把我藏在阴间，
把我藏起来直到你息怒，
定下眷顾我的日期。
14 人若死了，还能复生吗？
我要在劳苦的岁月中等待，
直到我得释放的日子来临。
15 那时你呼唤，我便回应，
你必惦念你亲手所造之物。
16 那时你必鉴察我的脚步，
但不会追究我的罪恶。

你会遮盖我的罪愆。
18 “高山崩塌，
磐石挪移；
19 流水磨损石头，
急流冲走泥土；

20 你永远击败他，使他消逝；

21 他的后人得尊荣，他无从知晓；
他们遭贬抑，他也无法察觉。

14 Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.
2 He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.
3 And doth thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee?
4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.
5 Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;
6 Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day.
7 For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.
8 Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;
9 Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.
10 But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?
11 As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up:
12 So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.
13 O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!
14 If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.
15 Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.
16 For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?
17 My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity.
18 And surely the mountains falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of his place.
19 The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.
20 Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.
21 His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.
22 But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.
