Defensa de Job
13 He aquí todo esto han visto mis ojos,
lo ha escuchado y entendido mi oído(A).
2 Lo que vosotros sabéis yo también lo sé;
no soy menos que vosotros(B).
3 Pero quiero hablar al Todopoderoso[a],
y deseo argumentar con Dios(C).
4 Mas vosotros sois forjadores de mentiras(D);
todos vosotros sois médicos inútiles(E).
5 ¡Quién diera que guardarais completo silencio
y se convirtiera esto en vuestra sabiduría(F)!
6 Oíd, os ruego, mi razonamiento,
y prestad atención a los argumentos de mis labios.
7 ¿Hablaréis por Dios lo que es injusto(G)
y diréis por Él lo que es engañoso?
8 ¿Mostraréis por Él parcialidad(H)?
¿Contenderéis por Dios?
9 ¿Os irá bien cuando Él os escudriñe,
o le engañaréis como se engaña a un hombre(I)?
10 Ciertamente Él os reprenderá
si en secreto mostráis parcialidad(J).
11 ¿No os llenará de temor su majestad[b],
y no caerá sobre vosotros su terror(K)?
12 Vuestras máximas son proverbios de ceniza,
vuestras defensas son defensas de barro.
13 Callad(L) delante de mí para que pueda hablar yo;
y venga sobre mí lo que venga.
14 ¿Por qué me he de quitar la carne con mis dientes,
y poner mi vida en mis manos[c](M)?
15 Aunque Él me mate(N),
en Él esperaré(O);
pero defenderé mis caminos delante de Él[d].
16 Esta[e] también será mi salvación(P),
porque un impío no comparecería en su presencia(Q).
17 Escuchad atentamente mis palabras,
y que mi declaración llene vuestros oídos.
18 He aquí ahora, yo he preparado mi causa(R);
sé que seré justificado(S).
19 ¿Quién contenderá conmigo(T)?,
porque entonces me callaría y moriría(U).
20 Solo dos cosas deseo que hagas conmigo,
y no me esconderé de tu rostro:
21 Que retires de mí tu mano[f],
y que tu terror no me espante(V).
22 Entonces llámame, y yo responderé(W);
o déjame hablar, y respóndeme tú.
23 ¿Cuántas son mis iniquidades y pecados?
Hazme conocer mi rebelión[g] y mi pecado(X).
24 ¿Por qué escondes tu rostro(Y)
y me consideras tu enemigo(Z)?
25 ¿Harás que tiemble una hoja(AA) llevada por el viento,
o perseguirás a la paja(AB) seca?
26 Pues escribes contra mí cosas amargas(AC),
y me haces responsable de[h] las iniquidades de mi juventud(AD).
27 Pones mis pies en el cepo,
y vigilas todas mis sendas(AE);
pones límite a[i] las plantas de mis pies,
28 mientras me deshago[j] como cosa podrida(AF),
como vestido comido de polilla.

13 “Mắt tôi đã thấy những điều ấy;
tai tôi đã nghe hiểu tất cả.
2 Điều gì các anh biết tôi cũng biết.
Các anh chẳng có gì hơn tôi.
3 Nhưng tôi muốn nói chuyện với Đấng Toàn Năng,
và biện luận với Ngài về hoàn cảnh tôi.
4 Các anh bôi lọ tôi bằng những lời bịa đặt.
Mấy anh đều là y sĩ bất tài!
5 Ước gì các anh làm thinh;
thì các anh mới thực sự khôn ngoan!
6 Hãy lắng nghe lời biện luận tôi,
ráng nghe lời bào chữa của môi tôi.
7 Các anh đừng nhân danh Thượng Đế mà bêu xấu;
các anh không thể dùng lời láo khoét
mà nói về chân lý của Thượng Đế.
8 Các anh đừng về phe Ngài mà chống tôi một cách bất công;
không nên biện hộ giùm Thượng Đế.
9 Nếu Ngài tra xét, các anh cũng sẽ không khá đâu;
các anh không thể gạt Thượng Đế như gạt người phàm được.
10 Chắc chắn Thượng Đế sẽ khiển trách các anh
nếu các anh thiên vị, về hùa theo một bên.
11 Sự vinh quang sáng rực của Ngài sẽ làm các anh kinh khiếp,
và Ngài sẽ làm các anh hoảng sợ.
12 Những châm ngôn khôn ngoan của các anh rốt cuộc vô dụng như tro bụi,
lập luận các anh yếu ớt như đất sét.
13 Hãy im lặng nghe tôi nói.
Điều gì xảy đến với tôi cũng được.
14 Tại sao tôi phải liều mạng,
và tự nắm lấy số phận trong tay mình?
15 Dù Thượng Đế giết tôi, tôi cũng vẫn vững tin nơi Ngài [a];
Tôi sẽ bênh vực mình trước mặt Ngài.
16 Đây là sự cứu rỗi tôi.
Kẻ ác không thể đến trước mặt Ngài.
17 Hãy lắng nghe kỹ lời tôi;
lỗ tai các anh hãy nghe điều tôi nói đây.
18 Nầy, tôi đã chuẩn bị lý đoán,
và tôi sẽ chứng tỏ mình có lý.
19 Không ai có thể cáo tôi làm bậy.
Nếu ai làm được, tôi sẽ im miệng và chịu chết.
20 Lạy Thượng Đế, xin cho tôi hai điều thôi,
rồi tôi sẽ không lẩn trốn Ngài:
21 Xin hãy cất sự trừng phạt Ngài khỏi tôi,
và đừng dùng sự kinh khiếp Ngài làm tôi hoảng sợ.
22 Rồi hãy kêu tôi, tôi sẽ trả lời,
hay để tôi nói, còn Ngài trả lời.
23 Tôi đã làm bao nhiêu điều ác và phạm bao nhiêu tội?
Xin hãy cho tôi thấy việc quấy hay tội lỗi tôi phạm.
24 Xin đừng giấu mặt Ngài khỏi tôi;
và đừng xem tôi như kẻ thù Ngài.
25 Xin đừng trừng phạt chiếc lá bị gió thổi bay;
đừng đuổi theo cọng rạ khô.
26 CHÚA ghi lại những điều dữ nghịch tôi, bắt tôi chịu khổ sở
vì những tội lỗi tôi phạm thuở niên thiếu.
27 Ngài còng chân tôi vào xiềng,
và theo dõi các bước đi tôi.
Ngài ghi dấu nơi bàn chân tôi.
28 Tôi hao mòn như đồ mục thối,
như áo quần bị mọt ăn.”

Job Defends Himself
13 “Behold, my eye has seen all this,
My ear has heard and understood it.
2 (A)What you know, I also know;
I am not inferior to you.
3 (B)But I would speak to the Almighty,
And I desire to reason with God.
4 But you forgers of lies,
(C)You are all worthless physicians.
5 Oh, that you would be silent,
And (D)it would be your wisdom!
6 Now hear my reasoning,
And heed the pleadings of my lips.
7 (E)Will you speak [a]wickedly for God,
And talk deceitfully for Him?
8 Will you show partiality for Him?
Will you contend for God?
9 Will it be well when He searches you out?
Or can you mock Him as one mocks a man?
10 He will surely rebuke you
If you secretly show partiality.
11 Will not His [b]excellence make you afraid,
And the dread of Him fall upon you?
12 Your platitudes are proverbs of ashes,
Your defenses are defenses of clay.
13 “Hold[c] your peace with me, and let me speak,
Then let come on me what may!
14 Why (F)do I take my flesh in my teeth,
And put my life in my hands?
15 (G)Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.
(H)Even so, I will defend my own ways before Him.
16 He also shall be my salvation,
For a (I)hypocrite could not come before Him.
17 Listen carefully to my speech,
And to my declaration with your ears.
18 See now, I have prepared my case,
I know that I shall be (J)vindicated.
19 (K)Who is he who will contend with me?
If now I hold my tongue, I perish.
Job’s Despondent Prayer
20 “Only(L) two things do not do to me,
Then I will not hide myself from You:
21 (M)Withdraw Your hand far from me,
And let not the dread of You make me afraid.
22 Then call, and I will (N)answer;
Or let me speak, then You respond to me.
23 How many are my iniquities and sins?
Make me know my transgression and my sin.
24 (O)Why do You hide Your face,
And (P)regard me as Your enemy?
25 (Q)Will You frighten a leaf driven to and fro?
And will You pursue dry stubble?
26 For You write bitter things against me,
And (R)make me inherit the iniquities of my youth.
27 (S)You put my feet in the stocks,
And watch closely all my paths.
You [d]set a limit for the [e]soles of my feet.
28 “Man[f] decays like a rotten thing,
Like a garment that is moth-eaten.
