⁹ Will it be well with you when he ^(A)searches you out?
    Or ^(B)can you deceive him, as one deceives a man?

^10 (A)“I the Lord search the heart
    ^(B)and test the mind,^[a]
(C)to give every man according to his ways,
    according to the fruit of his deeds.”

^21 (A)would not God discover this?
    ^(B)For he knows the secrets of the heart.

²² Now therefore do not ^(A)scoff,
    lest your bonds be made strong;
for I have heard ^(B)a decree of destruction
    from the Lord God of hosts against the whole land.

³⁶ Would that Job were tried to the end,
    because he answers like wicked men.

² Surely there are mockers about me,
    and my eye dwells on their ^(A)provocation.

¹⁶ With him are strength and ^(A)sound wisdom;
    the deceived and the deceiver are his.
