¹³ “Keep silent^(A) and let me speak;^(B)
    then let come to me what may.^(C)

⁵ If only you would be altogether silent!^(A)
    For you, that would be wisdom.^(B)

¹¹ “Therefore I will not keep silent;^(A)
    I will speak out in the anguish^(B) of my spirit,
    I will complain^(C) in the bitterness of my soul.^(D)

³ Bear with me while I speak,
    and after I have spoken, mock on.^(A)

10 “I loathe my very life;^(A)
    therefore I will give free rein to my complaint
    and speak out in the bitterness of my soul.^(B)

¹⁵ so that I prefer strangling and death,^(A)
    rather than this body of mine.^(B)
16 I despise my life;^(C) I would not live forever.^(D)
    Let me alone;^(E) my days have no meaning.^(F)

⁹ that God would be willing to crush^(A) me,
    to let loose his hand and cut off my life!^(B)
10 Then I would still have this consolation^(C)—
    my joy in unrelenting pain^(D)—
    that I had not denied the words^(E) of the Holy One.^(F)
