²³ He makes nations great, then destroys them;
    he enlarges nations, then leads them away.^(A)

¹⁵ But you have increased the nation, O Lord;
    you have increased the nation; you are glorified;
    you have enlarged all the borders of the land.^(A)

³ You have multiplied exultation;^[a]
    you have increased its joy;
they rejoice before you
    as with joy at the harvest,
    as people exult when dividing plunder.^(A)

²² The least of them shall become a clan
    and the smallest one a mighty nation;
I am the Lord;
    in its time I will accomplish it quickly.^(A)

³⁸ By his blessing they multiply greatly,
    and he does not let their cattle decrease.^(A)

¹⁹ Out of them shall come thanksgiving
    and the sound of merrymakers.
I will make them many, and they shall not be few;
    I will make them honored, and they shall not be disdained.^(A)

² Look to Abraham your father
    and to Sarah, who bore you,
for he was but one when I called him,
    but I blessed him and made him many.^(A)
