¹⁷ He leads counselors away stripped
    and makes fools of judges.^(A)

¹⁴ so I will again do
    amazing things with this people,
    shocking and amazing.
The wisdom of their wise shall perish,
    and the discernment of the discerning shall be hidden.^(A)

¹² Where now are your sages?
    Let them tell you and make known
    what the Lord of hosts has planned against Egypt.^(A)
13 The princes of Zoan have become fools,
    and the princes of Memphis are deluded;
those who are the cornerstones of its tribes
    have led Egypt astray.^(B)
14 The Lord has poured into them^[a]
    a spirit of confusion;
and they have made Egypt stagger in all its doings
    as a drunkard staggers around in his vomit.^(C)

²⁴ The earth is given into the hand of the wicked;
    he covers the eyes of its judges—
    if it is not he, who then is it?^(A)

¹⁴ with kings and counselors of the earth
    who rebuild ruins for themselves,^(A)
