⁴ You say to God, ‘My beliefs are flawless^(A)
    and I am pure^(B) in your sight.’

⁷ though you know that I am not guilty^(A)
    and that no one can rescue me from your hand?^(B)

¹⁰ Then I would still have this consolation^(A)—
    my joy in unrelenting pain^(B)—
    that I had not denied the words^(C) of the Holy One.^(D)

    You say, ‘I am in the right,^(A) not God.’^(B)

    but God denies me justice.^(B)
6 Although I am right,
    I am considered a liar;^(C)
although I am guiltless,^(D)
    his arrow inflicts an incurable wound.’^(E)

⁴ Who can bring what is pure^(A) from the impure?^(B)
    No one!^(C)

² “Indeed, I know that this is true.
    But how can mere mortals prove their innocence before God?^(A)
3 Though they wished to dispute with him,^(B)
    they could not answer him one time out of a thousand.^(C)

²⁰ If I have sinned, what have I done to you,^(A)
    you who see everything we do?
Why have you made me your target?^(B)
