¹⁶ You will surely forget your trouble,^(A)
    recalling it only as waters gone by.^(B)

¹⁶ Whoever invokes a blessing^(A) in the land
    will do so by the one true God;^(B)
whoever takes an oath in the land
    will swear^(C) by the one true God.
For the past troubles^(D) will be forgotten
    and hidden from my eyes.

⁹ “To me this is like the days of Noah,
    when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth.^(A)
So now I have sworn^(B) not to be angry^(C) with you,
    never to rebuke^(D) you again.

⁴ “Do not be afraid;^(A) you will not be put to shame.^(B)
    Do not fear disgrace;^(C) you will not be humiliated.
You will forget the shame of your youth^(D)
    and remember no more the reproach^(E) of your widowhood.^(F)

“they are before the throne of God^(C)
    and serve him^(D) day and night in his temple;^(E)
and he who sits on the throne^(F)
    will shelter them with his presence.^(G)
16 ‘Never again will they hunger;
    never again will they thirst.^(H)
The sun will not beat down on them,’^[a]
    nor any scorching heat.^(I)
17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne
    will be their shepherd;^(J)
‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’^[b](K)
    ‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’^[c]”^(L)

“I will praise^(B) you, Lord.
    Although you were angry with me,
your anger has turned away^(C)
    and you have comforted^(D) me.
² Surely God is my salvation;^(E)
    I will trust^(F) and not be afraid.
The Lord, the Lord himself,^(G) is my strength^(H) and my defense^[a];
    he has become my salvation.^(I)”

⁷ Let them drink^(A) and forget their poverty
    and remember their misery no more.
