⁶ that you ^(A)seek out my iniquity
    and search for my sin,

¹⁶ For then you would ^(A)number my steps;
    you would not keep ^(B)watch over my sin;

¹² At that time ^(A)I will search Jerusalem with lamps,
    and I will punish the men
^(B)who are complacent,^{[a]
    (C)}those who say in their hearts,
‘The Lord will not do good,
    nor will he do ill.’

³⁴ Also on your skirts is found
    ^(A)the lifeblood of the guiltless poor;
you did not find them ^(B)breaking in.
    Yet in spite of all these things

^21 (A)would not God discover this?
    ^(B)For he knows the secrets of the heart.

^15 (A)Break the arm of the wicked and evildoer;
    ^(B)call his wickedness to account till you find none.

¹⁴ If I sin, you ^(A)watch me
    and do not ^(B)acquit me of my iniquity.
^15 (C)If I am guilty, woe to me!
    If I am ^(D)in the right, I cannot lift up my head,
for I am filled with disgrace
    and ^(E)look on my affliction.
¹⁶ And were my head lifted up,^[a] you would hunt me like ^(F)a lion
    and again work ^(G)wonders against me.
¹⁷ You renew your ^(H)witnesses against me
    and increase your vexation toward me;
    you ^(I)bring fresh troops against me.
