²⁰ Then Job arose and ^(A)tore his ^(B)robe and ^(C)shaved his head ^(D)and fell on the ground and worshiped. ²¹ And he said, ^(E)“Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I ^(F)return. The Lord ^(G)gave, and the Lord has taken away; ^(H)blessed be the name of the Lord.”

^22 (I)In all this Job did not sin or charge God with ^(J)wrong.

¹⁰ But he said to her, “You speak as one of the ^(A)foolish women would speak. ^(B)Shall we receive good from God, and shall we not receive evil?”^{[a] (C)}In all this Job did not ^(D)sin with his lips.

^7 (A)Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for ^(B)whatever one sows, that will he also reap. ⁸ For ^(C)the one who sows to his own flesh ^(D)will from the flesh reap corruption, but ^(E)the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.

Straining Toward the Goal

¹² Not that I have already ^(A)obtained this or ^(B)am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. ¹³ Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: ^(C)forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, ¹⁴ I press on toward the goal for ^(D)the prize of the upward ^(E)call of God in Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ Let those of us who are ^(F)mature think this way, and if in anything ^(G)you think otherwise, ^(H)God will reveal that also to you. ¹⁶ Only ^(I)let us hold true to what we have attained.

⁴ For ^(A)whatever was written in former days was written for our ^(B)instruction, that through endurance and through ^(C)the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
