¹⁷ While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said, “The Chaldeans^(A) formed three raiding parties and swept down on your camels and made off with them. They put the servants to the sword, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!”

²⁸ While his father Terah was still alive, Haran died in Ur of the Chaldeans,^(A) in the land of his birth.

³¹ Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot^(A) son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law^(B) Sarai, the wife of his son Abram, and together they set out from Ur of the Chaldeans^(C) to go to Canaan.^(D) But when they came to Harran,^(E) they settled there.
