¹² “Have you ever given orders to the morning,^(A)
    or shown the dawn its place,^(B)

¹⁶ The day is yours, and yours also the night;
    you established the sun and moon.^(A)

³ Praise him, sun^(A) and moon;
    praise him, all you shining stars.
⁴ Praise him, you highest heavens^(B)
    and you waters above the skies.^(C)

⁵ Let them praise the name^(D) of the Lord,
    for at his command^(E) they were created,

⁹ for we were born only yesterday and know nothing,^(A)
    and our days on earth are but a shadow.^(B)
