    which distill as rain to the streams^[a];^(B)

¹⁶ He spreads the snow^(A) like wool
    and scatters the frost^(B) like ashes.
¹⁷ He hurls down his hail^(C) like pebbles.
    Who can withstand his icy blast?
¹⁸ He sends his word^(D) and melts them;
    he stirs up his breezes,^(E) and the waters flow.
