    so that they may see the light of life.^[a](A)

¹³ For you have delivered my soul from death
    and my feet from falling,
so that I may walk before God
    in the light of life.^(A)

¹⁷ Surely it was for my welfare
    that I had great bitterness,
but you have held back^[a] my life
    from the pit of destruction,
for you have cast all my sins
    behind your back.^(A)

¹ I waited patiently for the Lord;
    he inclined to me and heard my cry.^(A)
2 He drew me up from the desolate pit,^[a]
    out of the miry bog,
and set my feet upon a rock,
    making my steps secure.^(B)

²⁸ He has redeemed my soul from going down to the Pit,
    and my life shall see the light.’^(A)
