Job Complains of Violence on the Earth

⁷ He replied, “It is not for you to know the times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority.^(A)

⁷ But by the same word the present heavens and earth have been reserved for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the godless.^(A)

⁸ But do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day.^(B)

⁶ For every matter has its time and way, although the troubles of mortals lie heavy upon them.^{(A) 7} Indeed, they do not know what is to be, for who can tell them how it will be?^(B)

¹⁷ I said to myself, “God will judge the righteous and the wicked, for he has appointed a time for every matter and for every work.”^(A)
