Job 22:4-11
New American Standard Bible 1995
4 “Is it because of your [a]reverence that He reproves you,
That He (A)enters into judgment against you?
5 “Is not (B)your wickedness great,
And your iniquities without end?
6 “For you have (C)taken pledges of your brothers without cause,
And (D)stripped [b]men naked.
7 “To the weary you have (E)given no water to drink,
And from the hungry you have (F)withheld bread.
8 “But the earth (G)belongs to the (H)mighty man,
And (I)the honorable man dwells in it.
9 “You have sent (J)widows away empty,
And the [c]strength of the (K)orphans has been crushed.
10 “Therefore (L)snares surround you,
And sudden (M)dread terrifies you,
11 Or (N)darkness, so that you cannot see,
And an (O)abundance of water covers you.

4 Is it because of your reverent fear that He reproves you,
That He (A)enters into judgment against you?
5 Is not (B)your evil great,
And your iniquities without end?
6 For you have (C)taken pledges of your brothers without cause,
And (D)stripped the clothing of the naked.
7 To the weary you have (E)given no water to drink,
And from the hungry you have (F)withheld bread.
8 But the earth (G)belongs to the (H)mighty man,
And (I)the [a]highly respected man inhabits it.
9 You have sent (J)widows away empty,
And the [b]might of the (K)orphans has been crushed.
10 Therefore (L)snares surround you,
And sudden (M)dread terrifies you,
11 Or (N)darkness, so that you cannot see,
And an (O)abundance of water covers you.
Job 22:4-11
New American Standard Bible
4 Is it because of your [a]reverence that He punishes you,
That He (A)enters into judgment against you?
5 Is (B)your wickedness not abundant,
And is there no end to your guilty deeds?
6 For you have (C)seized pledges from your brothers without cause,
And [b](D)stripped people naked.
7 You have (E)given the weary no water to drink,
And you have (F)withheld bread from the hungry.
8 But the earth (G)belongs to the (H)powerful man,
And (I)the one who is honorable dwells on it.
9 You have sent (J)widows away empty,
And the [c]strength of (K)orphans has been crushed.
10 Therefore (L)traps surround you,
And sudden (M)dread terrifies you,
11 Or (N)darkness, so that you cannot see,
And a (O)flood of water covers you.
