2 The Lord said to Satan,[a] ‘Where have you come from?’ Satan[b] answered the Lord, ‘From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it.’ 3 The Lord said to Satan,[c] ‘Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man who fears God and turns away from evil. He still persists in his integrity, although you incited me against him, to destroy him for no reason.’ 4 Then Satan[d] answered the Lord, ‘Skin for skin! All that people have they will give to save their lives.[e]

New International Version
2 And the Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?”
Satan answered the Lord, “From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it.”(A)
3 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.(B) And he still maintains his integrity,(C) though you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason.”(D)
4 “Skin for skin!” Satan replied. “A man will give all he has(E) for his own life.
