²⁰My ^(A)bone clings to my skin and my flesh,
And I have escaped only by the skin of my teeth.

²⁰I am nothing but skin and bones;^(A)
I have escaped only by the skin of my teeth.^[a]

²⁴My ^(A)knees are feeble from ^(B)fasting,
And my flesh has grown lean, without fatness.

²⁴My knees give^(A) way from fasting;^(B)
my body is thin and gaunt.^(C)
