8 The Lord said to Satan, “Have you [a]considered (A)My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, (B)a blameless and upright man, [b]fearing God and turning away from evil.” 9 Then (C)Satan answered the [c]Lord, “Does Job fear God for nothing? 10 (D)Have You not made a fence around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? (E)You have blessed the work of his hands, and his (F)possessions have increased in the land. 11 (G)But reach out with Your hand now and (H)touch all that he has; he will certainly curse You to Your face.” 12 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your [d]power; only do not reach out and put your hand on him.” So Satan departed from the presence of the Lord.

8 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job?(A) There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God(B) and shuns evil.”(C)

9 “Does Job fear God for nothing?”(D) Satan replied. 10 “Have you not put a hedge(E) around him and his household and everything he has?(F) You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land.(G) 11 But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has,(H) and he will surely curse you to your face.”(I)

12 The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has(J) is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.”(K)

Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.
